Description
These late (winter) apples retain all their qualities and presentation until April. The tree is characterized by medium winter hardiness and resistance to leaf scab. Moreover, the resistance to a similar disease of the fruit is above average. The Bogatyr apple variety is characterized by stable and high productivity. Often, from one adult tree, up to 100 kg of fruits are harvested. This apple tree is tall with a conical or rounded spreading crown. It is not too thick, which allows the sun to well illuminate the fruits inside it. The branches are covered with dark green oval leaves. Apples are located mainly on the glove, although they occur on biennial shoots. The main lower branches are very powerful, covered with red-brown bark. They are located almost at right angles to
the tree trunk. The branches located higher make up an angle of 45 ° with it.
This apple tree blossoms with almost flat small pink and white flowers. They rarely have a cut edge. Stigmas are located above the anthers. Active fruiting in this apple tree begins at 6-7 years of life.
Commodity properties of fruits
The Bogatyr apples, the photo of which is presented below, are quite large (up to 200 g). With proper care and good weather conditions, their size can increase. The fruits have a flat round shape and a wide base. In this case, there is some slanting of apples to the cup. The fruits are held on small thick, sturdy stalks.
During removable maturity, these apples have a greenish-yellow color. When stored, it turns yellow. Fruits located on the sunny side of the tree have a light carmine blush. The peel of the apple is smooth, although in the depths of the funnel and around it there are corks.
The apple variety “Bogatyr” has a white, dense, slightly succulent, crunchy, fine-grained pulp with a delicate aroma. Fruits contain sugars (10%), acids (0.56%), including ascorbic acid (12.9 / 100 g), solids (13%), P-active catechins (134.5 / 100 g) . Ripe apples have a pleasant sweet and sour taste. These fruits can be consumed fresh and processed (for making mashed potatoes, compotes, pastille, jam, jam, soufflé). With long-term storage, the marketability of fruits is up to 90%. At the same time, about 60% of them are apples of the highest and 1st grade. The only drawback of the appearance of these fruits is the insufficient saturation of their color.
