Thuja is a coniferous plant, but its branches are covered not with needles, but with the likeness of scales. Like firs and pines, this tree exudes volatile products, which have a beneficial effect on the composition of the air and the respiratory system. Given that caring for this tree is very simple, the plant itself is unusual and beautiful, it can be noted that its popularity is growing from year to year. Sometimes they even call the “royal tree”. Description
The indicated variety of thuja belongs to the western species. The tree is small in size and has a conical crown. It grows relatively slowly, reaches a height of 2 m by 15 years. The diameter is 0.8 meters. The most outstanding feature that distinguishes this tree from others is the brightness of new shoots. They have a bright yellow, sometimes orange color. All immediately pay attention to the plant, which stands out among the bright greenery of the infield. Later this color fades, by autumn it turns into green. Preparing for winter, the tree takes on a bronze hue.
Thuja has increased resistance to frost, but this only applies to the middle zone of the country, where the cold is not so strong.
Landing
If you decide to plant the thuja on the site, you need to find a suitable place for it. Yellow Ribbon is a thuja who does not like bright light. However, this also applies to other plants of this genus. If the sun gives the rays of thuja all day, this will lead to dehydration of the plant and to its death in the winter. The soil should be turf, with the addition of sand and peat. However, in marshy, clay compositions the tree will grow no worse.

Care

The first month you need to water the tree weekly, using at least 10 liters of water. If the weather is too dry, it should be done twice a week, doubling the fluid flow. If the soil on the site is wet, Yellow Ribbon will be especially bright and splendid. Thuja will have an unhealthy appearance with a lack of moisture.
Breeding
Thuja, planting and caring in the open field for which it is not difficult, multiplies in two ways.
- Sunflower seeds. This method is not in demand. Firstly, it takes a lot of time (5 years). In addition, varietal characteristics are not transmitted by seeds. This means that no matter what variety the seed is taken from, only a wild plant can be obtained from it.
This method has one advantage: the plants will be fully adapted to the current climate.
- Cuttings. This method is more effective, in addition, the result can be seen faster. In addition, a tree that is fully consistent with varietal characteristics is grown in this way. To do this, take the shoots of the second or third year. Separate them so that the wood remains on the base. It is best to inherit the varietal traits of the part taken from the upper part of the parent plant.
The fastest and easiest way is to buy a seedling. Of course, this is more expensive, but when contacting professionals, there is a guarantee to purchase a quality sample that fully complies with the characteristics of the selected variety.
Before buying, it is worth inspecting the seedling. The earth in the pot should not be too dry, because no one will say for sure how much time he spent in this form. It may be that watering a tree is no longer possible. The needles should not leave their places, the plant should look healthy. The younger the purchased tree, the more likely it will take root. However, it will grow longer in this case.
