One of the most popular genres in modern literature is fantasy. Despite the fact that this trend was formed on the basis of fairy tales, today not only children are read in stories about magical worlds and unusual creatures that inhabit them. Fantasy is popular among readers of various ages and social groups.
Many writers - both foreign and domestic - have dedicated their work to this genre. One of them is Victor Bazhenov.
Author Biography
The future writer, whose full name is Viktor Olegovich Bazhenov, was born on January 24, 1976 in Russia, in the city of Ryazan.
He studied at school number 15, which he graduated in 1991, after studying 8 classes. On the official website of Bazhenov in the section "About the Authors" it is mentioned that from childhood the writer was distinguished by a rich imagination. In elementary school, he composed fantastic stories on the go and shared them with classmates.
After graduating from school, Viktor Bazhenov entered a vocational school, graduated in 1994.
Before becoming a writer, he tried himself in various activities. For some time he was busy in the field of trade. It was thanks to this that Viktor Bazhenov met Natalia - the girl who later became his wife and mother of his son.
In 2000, he decided to get higher education and entered the correspondence department at Moscow State Regional University. While studying at the university, Bazhenov also worked at the Ryazan Radio Plant.
Writing career. Meet the co-author
Viktor Bazhenov's debut as a writer took place in 2002, when his first novel, Operation Operation At the Curved Seas, was published. The work was the beginning of a cycle called "Curved seashore" ("Far Away State").
Like all books by Viktor Bazhenov, this novel was co-written with Oleg Shelonin, another Russian writer who creates works in the genre of humorous fantasy.
The authors met in the mid-1990s at the Chkalovsky market on the outskirts of Ryazan. Shelonin was a seller - like many, he had to leave his previous job due to lack of salary and try to earn money, standing behind a tray with video cassettes, batteries, razors and other similar goods.
Viktor Bazhenov moonlighted as a loader in the same market. On the day he met Shelonin, he was given the required salary, and he decided to buy a cassette with a film recommended by his friends.
Bazhenov's choice fell on the Shelonin counter. He tried to convince the buyer that instead of the movie "Romeo and Juliet," it is better to take some other cassette. As a result, they agreed that Victor would take both films, and the next day he would return one that he did not like.
Future co-authors began to be friends. It turned out that their interests coincide in many ways - for example, both loved to read. Once Bazhenov and Shelonin decided to write their first novel themselves.
Bibliography. The cycle "Curved seashore"
The first novel was followed by others. In 2003, the second book of the Lukomorye series was published; in 2006 the cycle was completed.
The protagonist of all three novels is Captain Ilya Ivanov, who recently assumed the post of commander of a special forces detachment. On the occasion of a successful operation, he and his subordinates decide to have a drink. The captain becomes the twin of a young man named Ivan.
Ivan gives Ilya a gift - a dagger, which turns out to be not an ordinary object, but a real artifact. With the help of this dagger, the special forces commander finds himself in a completely different world, called the Far Far Away Kingdom. In a parallel world, Ivanov exists under the guise of that same Ivan. Before returning to familiar reality, he must deal with representatives of fairy tale evil.
"Coastal Cruiser"
The books of the cycle by Oleg Shelonin and Victor Bazhenov “Coastal cruiser” were published in 2013-2014. Like Lukomorye, the series is a trilogy.
The cycle includes the novels “The Coastal Cruiser. A ship of ghosts ”,“ Ban on love ”and“ Ark ”.
In the story, the main character almost gets into a car accident, but instead of the hospital, he moves in time and finds himself in the distant future. Now he is the captain of the Ara-Bella spacecraft, leading a team of three people (or not quite a man): a young man, a flight mechanic and a sensible on-board program named Nola.
Mysterious events constantly occur on board the coastal cruiser, which crew members will have to deal with.
"Paladin"
Another cycle of novels by Oleg Shelonin and Viktor Bazhenov is “Paladin”, which also consists of three works.
The novels “The Exile”, “The Wandering Knight” and “The Blessing” take place in an alternative reality reminiscent of the Middle Ages.
The main character is Kevin, one of the novices of the Order of the White Lion. One day, a magical book falls into his hands, the author of which is the founder of the Order of St. Scoliot. From this moment on, Kevin begins a completely different life, full of adventure and danger. In the course of these wanderings, the hero will have the opportunity to learn more about himself.
