Thanks to the constant work of Russian and foreign breeders, most fruit trees today are widespread in all regions of our country. This fully applies to pears, of which there are many varieties. All of them differ in maturity, productivity, taste. Some people like soft, juicy and sweet fruits, others like fruits with denser pulp and pleasant sourness.
But today we will not consider all the popular varieties, and this is impossible. We will tell only about one of them. Pear Prominent will be the heroine of our article.
From the history of the variety
Prominent - a pear belonging to the late summer varieties of Russian selection. This variety was bred in 1958 by Moscow breeders during the pollination of hybrid VI-53-67 with a mixture of pollen from the famous southern varieties of pear. The authors of the development are N.V. Efimova and Yu. A. Petrov. Sometimes this variety is called Bumpy. This is due to the external characteristics of the fruit.
In the late seventies of the last century, the variety was attributed to the elite. Today it is widely distributed in horticulture in Central Russia and in the Moscow region, zoned for the Central region. Over the years, he has not lost his popularity for gardeners.

The young tree has a thick and spreading crown, but eventually acquires a pyramidal shape and medium thickening. The crown consists of powerful branches with large numerous annulus. The first fruiting occurs five years after a year of growth in the nursery.

Choosing a place to land
