Grapes Julian - a delicious hybrid variety

At times, it can be quite difficult to select a grape variety for successful cultivation in the garden, as different species require some care. In addition, the plant must meet certain requirements - it is resistance to diseases and frosts, the speed of ripening, taste. So, for example, Julian grapes are not only tasty, but also fertile.

Features

It is a hybrid table form of early-ripening grapes obtained by V. Kapelyushin by crossing Kesh and Rhizomat varieties. 95-105 days are enough for Julian for full maturing of grains. The vine ripens well, more than ¾ of its length. Bisexual flowers.

The Julian grape variety has very large cylinder-conical clusters of medium density. The weight of each brush can range from 800 grams to two kilograms.

The load of plants with eyes is 40-50, pruning of fruiting vines is carried out for 8-10 eyes. Julian grapes are quite resistant to mildew (7 points), oidium (7 points), berry rot (6-7 points). It also withstands frosts down to -24 degrees Celsius. Cuttings of this variety root very well, and the seedlings themselves have a powerful root system. This grape is often found on sale, as it retains its presentation for a long time and has high transportability.

Grapes Julian: a description of berries and taste

The berries themselves have a pale pink color, play with glare against the sun. The size of each is from 42x26 mm. The shape of the berries is oval or oblong nipple. This variety stores sugar well, but wasps do not touch it. When ripe, the berries do not have the ability to burst. The peel of the grapes is soft, you can’t feel it while eating, the flesh is dense and crispy. Julian grapes, the photo of which is presented below, has a very pleasant and harmonious taste (with light musky notes).

Site selection and soil preparation for disembarkation

The Julian grape variety loves the sun's rays, so for its planting it is recommended to choose a place near the southern wall of the house, shed, fence or hedge. Also, the site should be protected from the winds, as the vines are very afraid of drafts. Otherwise, it is recommended to put a protective "screen" of the film on the east and north sides of the seedlings.

If the soil on the designated land contains too much moisture, then drainage should be provided. 2-3 weeks before planting, the earth must be dug up with two-tier digging. If the soil is too acidic, then a little lime should be added to it (200 grams per 1 sq. M). To increase soil fertility, fertilize it with manure or compost, as well as introduce complex mineral fertilizers.

After preparing the soil, you need to build a support system of horizontally stretched wire. To do this, dig in the ground to a depth of 60 cm wooden posts 2 meters high. The distance between adjacent columns should be 2-3 meters. The very first, as well as the final column must be strengthened with supports to give the structure more stability. The lower row of wire is pulled at a distance of 40 cm from the soil surface, after which several more rows are pulled with an interval of 30 cm.

Julian Grapes: Planting

In the southern regions, this variety is planted in the ground from October to March. In other areas with a colder climate, the vine is planted in the spring, before the buds open. When the buds begin to bloom, it is possible to plant cuttings in the ground, while the temperature of the soil at the depth of the roots should be at least +10 degrees Celsius.

Pruning and care

Julian grapes need annual pruning. It is necessary to leave only three main stems. Moreover, two shoots are left for fruiting, and one is cut so that next year he can provide replacement stems. Fruit-bearing branches should be tied up at a short distance from the ground, which will give the grapes its heat.

Also, annual mineral fertilizers must be added to the soil. In the spring, they usually mulch with a layer of rotted compost with a layer of up to 4 cm. Since the plant reacts quite sensitively to the lack of magnesium in the soil, it is necessary to spray the grapes with magnesium sulfate diluted in a proportion of 250 grams of substance per 10 liters of water every two weeks. Top dressing is carried out during the entire growing season until the ripening period of the berries. A vine growing against a wall needs constant watering.

How to keep the soil warm

There are several options to keep the heat received by the soil during the day:

- sodding of land allotted for the vineyard;

- mulching the topsoil under the bush using plant debris, a black film;

- laying under racks of a hill of brick or stones;

- You can place water containers in the vineyard.

Constant monitoring of the weather

So that the vine does not freeze, it is necessary to constantly monitor the weather - then frost will not be a surprise. So, for example, if the north wind appeared at night, the air is dry, and the sky is dotted with bright stars, then the probability of a drop in temperature is high. In this case, in the evening it is necessary to water the soil of the vineyard and place plastic barrels of water on it (it keeps the heat longer). If the temperature starts to drop below 0 degrees Celsius, then you urgently need to thoroughly spray all the grape bushes with water until a thin ice crust appears on the leaves. In the morning, the sun will rise, the ice will melt, and the vine will be saved. A similar procedure will protect the grapes from spring frosts.
