Tuxedo is a men's suit, which is the most elegant and suitable for the most special occasions. It should be perfectly matched and fitted to the figure. This category of clothing does not depend on fashion trends, it retains the traditions of a classic men's suit.
A bit of history
The origin of the tuxedo is associated with tobacco brought in England from the colonies in the 17th century and the fashion for smoking, which began to spread very quickly. Since it was not permissible for gentlemen to smoke with ladies, specially designed rooms appeared for this. At the same time, a tradition arose of wearing a special robe at home - a slagrock, the hallmark of which was a satin hem of the sleeves and collar. Etiquette even allowed to receive guests in such clothes.
The advantage of this part of the wardrobe was convenience, as it did not hamper the movements. Somewhat later, a male tuxedo designed for smoking arose. Since it combined elegance and convenience, ashes were shook off silk collars and sleeves, he quickly gained popularity.
Interestingly, the men wore it only before entering the smoking room. Coming out of it, they shot it. But over time, the tuxedo began to increasingly enter into the daily lives of men.
The fact that this costume is recognized in the highest circles is confirmed by the fact that in the middle of the 19th century the first tuxedo was sewn for the Prince of Wales. But at the same time the tuxedo was inferior in significance to the tailcoat and for a long time wore exclusively on not very important events.
Features
A modern tuxedo is a suit that has striking differences from everyday. The main ones that are hard to miss are the satin inserts. On trousers you can see stripes, and on jackets - lapels made of this material. But the tuxedo is a whole ensemble, which includes a special shirt, satin sash (special belt), a scarf for a pocket square and a bow tie. And also the necessary details are classic black leather shoes and socks of a similar tone.
The vest must be made of the same material as the jacket, it is fastened with satin buttons.
A wristwatch should not be worn with a tuxedo; a watch on a chain is acceptable.
Dress code
An invitation to official receptions and status events often contain an indication of the acceptable form of clothing. For men, the generally accepted wording “white tie” or “black tie” is usually provided. If the first means a tailcoat, then the second is a tuxedo. When such information is not available, it means that a classic suit for the evening will be enough.
Secrets of choice
The modern color palette is very rich in colors, but according to existing rules, a black tuxedo is worn in the winter, and the white version is preferred in the summer. If the protocol does not have to be followed, then you can opt for a different shade.
To make this costume, wool is used. The shirt should be made of cotton or silk. But experiments with the texture of the fabric are acceptable in order to highlight this detail of clothing.
The tuxedo can be single-breasted or double-breasted. According to etiquette, both options are possible. The choice depends on the build and age of the man. To look more presentable, a young man of a slender physique should give preference to a double-breasted jacket. Single-breasted is able to hide extra pounds and is suitable for men of a more mature age.
According to new fashion trends, a tuxedo is not only a suit from a men's wardrobe, more and more women can be seen in it. But at the same time, the female version does not have equivalent status with the male one.
