And who will not be affected by this tragic story?

If you have not read the novel of the French writer "Notre Dame de Paris", a brief summary, we hope, will encourage you to do this, because in a short article it is impossible to convey the drama that this sad story is saturated with. The action takes place in 1482. It all starts with the fact that a huge crowd gathered in the Palace of Justice, awaiting a festive mystery, the author of which was the poet Pierre Gringoire. However, things didn’t go according to plan, and the mystery, not having time to start, smoothly turns into a frank farce calling for the election of the king of buffoons (or the buffoonish dad). Everyone who wants to get this "position" must build the most terrible grimace. People go wild and fooling around, but the main prize - the clownish tiara - goes to the local hunchback ringer Quasimodo, who accidentally fell on this "holiday of life" and did not grimace, for it was ugly even without that. Victor Hugo ("Notre Dame de Paris" is considered one of his best creations) described these events very colorfully.

Suddenly in the crowd there is a cry that Esmeralda is dancing in the square - a beautiful gypsy. Everyone ran to look at this wonderful sight. The grieved Gringoire also went to look at her. But he was not the only one who was captivated by the beauty of the young girl: the priest Claude Frollo literally inflamed passion for her and, by all means, decided to get her disposition. When the girl was going home, he, together with Quasimodo, tried to abduct her, but following her, Grenguar saw this and called for help. She is saved by the dazzling soldier Phoebus de Châteauper. Gypsy Esmeralda sincerely falls in love with him, but he has a bride, the fair-haired Fleur-de-Lis. The literary masterpiece "Notre Dame de Paris", the summary of which is not able to retell all the details, really touches the soul.

Further, the plot develops as follows: Esmeralda saves Gringoire from hanging, agreeing to become his wife. But she loves Phoebe, who once appoints her a date, as she is subdued by the beauty of the girl. But Frollo found out about this, and at the moment when Phoebe tried to kiss the gypsy, he thrust a dagger into his back. Esmeralda is swooning. Waking up, she hears accusations of killing Phoebe. She faces the gallows. Frollo invites her to run, but on condition that she will be his. The girl refuses. He tortures her with the “Spanish boot”, and Esmeralda cannot stand it: she confesses to everything she did not do. She does not know that he is alive. On the day of the execution, she sees him and faints. Quasimodo, who was also the victim of a conspiracy, picks her up in his arms and runs away with her to Notre-Dame de Paris (summary contains a lot of interesting details). For some time, the gypsy lives there, but her brothers - thieves and beggars - storm the temple to rescue the girl. Quasimodo protects her, he fell in love with Esmeralda when she gave him a drink on the day of his "coronation."

Gringoire, knowing that Frollo wants to kill her, takes the girl out of the cathedral and hands her to the priest. He again arranges the execution and oversees its implementation, standing on top of the tower of the cathedral and grinning maliciously. Quasimodo understands that it is the priest who is to blame for the fact that the innocent girl was brutally executed. He throws it off the tower, and Esmeralda’s lifeless body is taken and taken to Notre-Dame de Paris (a brief summary will never convey the dramatic nature of the situation and the desperation of the main characters). There he lays a dead girl on the floor, hugs her and dies.
