The Monster Tail eraser is the second most popular set from the American company Rainbow Loom. This is a mini version of the standard weaving fixture, which is convenient to take with you on the go.
The kit includes:
- 600 elastic bands of various colors,
- clips,
- a plastic hook, not a metal one, as in a regular set,
- mini-machine for weaving simple bracelets.
There are many options for products for weaving on the machine "Monster Tail" from rubber bands. In addition to bracelets of various shapes, these can be key chains, toys and various jewelry. Consider several options for manufacturing products. It is worth remembering that when the gum is twisted by eight, the direction should always be the same: from yourself or towards yourself.
Monster Tail rubber weaving: Ice cream on a stick workshop
For example, let's try to create a small keychain in the form of ice cream on a stick.
For the figure you will need:
- 7 yellow rubber bands for the "stick" orange
- 9 white rubber bands for creamy layer,
- 34 gum primary color for the ice cream itself (for example, pink).
The process of creating a keychain begins with the design of the stick:
- Open the Monster Tail weaving kit and prepare everything you need. The product will be woven on three columns of the upper row and 3 columns of the lower.
- First, make a stick on the two central posts. To do this, take an orange rubber band and place it on a column in the bottom row of the machine. Then we make an eight and put the bottom loop on the column. Repeat all the steps again. On a column there should be an elastic band twisted in three turns.
- Now we take two rubber bands: we put them on top and pull them on the opposite column in the top row. They should be one above the other, not twisting and not intersecting with each other. Next, we will throw two pieces each time.
- Then, with a crochet, we throw off the triple elastic band from the post. It is more convenient to fold one or two loops.
- Lower the elastic bands lower and take the next pair. We put on two columns in the middle row and throw off the rubber bands in the lower layer, first on one side, then on the other.
- We throw in two more elastic bands and throw off the elastic bands of the lower layer.
We make a “creamy layer”
We continue weaving on the Monster Tail machine from the elastic bands of the Ice Cream keychain. We begin to make a “creamy layer”.
- Take two white rubber bands and place them over the orange.
- We throw off orange gum in the center.
- Now we put one white elastic band horizontally on three columns of the bottom row. We turn the machine over and throw white elastic bands on the right and left column, twisting each of them three times. There should be four layers.
- We throw two rubber bands of white color on two columns on the right side and two more on the left column. Crocheting, we begin to fold the gum twisted four times, grabbing two loops on both sides. Hold the middle of the workpiece with your finger so that the remaining rubber bands do not fly off the machine. Two columns should remain on the posts.
- We turn the machine and hold a horizontal rubber band over three columns in the center and release.
The bulk of ice cream
Weaving on the machine "Monster Tail" from the elastic bands of the key ring "Ice Cream" goes to the final stage - the creation of the main part. We put on rubber bands of the color that was chosen for the product.
- We stretch one elastic on three columns of the bottom row.
- Then we throw two elastic bands on all the posts: on two right, left and in the middle.
- After that, first we drop the bottom pink rubber band from the posts, then all the white ones. Lower the gum lower.
- Repeat steps 1-3. We finish folding the rubber bands of the lower layer. We do all the steps three more times. It remains to fasten all the rubber bands together.
- At the final stage, we throw gum only on the extreme posts. Elastic band, which we pull horizontally on three columns, twist in two turns.
- We throw two rubber bands on the right and left.
- We throw off the twisted two horizontal elastic and the bottom layer from the extreme columns.
- We fix the elastic bands, throwing them from the extreme columns to the central one. We press a finger on the elastic bands on the right column and throw it over to the next one. Repeat the same with the left column. For convenience, you can stretch them into two columns and throw off the extreme. We turn the machine and repeat all the steps starting from the left column.
- We put one rubber band on two columns in the center. We throw off all the rubber bands under it, starting with the two upper ones, then the two middle ones and, lastly, the two lower ones. We turn the machine and repeat all the steps.
- We make a knot from the remaining loops. To do this, throw the rubber band from the lower column to the upper one, turn the machine and throw off the lower rubber band. You get a knot, you need to gently tighten it, pulling the remaining gum up. Remove the finished keychain from the post. Once again, tighten the top and straighten the product so that all the rubber bands fall into place.
Flower of rubber bands for a bracelet
Constantly there are new ways of weaving bracelets on a round machine "Monster Tail". But it is possible, without using complex techniques, to decorate an ordinary “fish tail” or “sea snake” with flowers from rubber bands. On one flower you need rubber bands of three colors, for example, 8 red for petals, 7 white for the middle and 2 green for the leaf. In this workshop there will be no information on how to weave gum bracelets on the Monster Tail loom - only the process of making a bud.
How to weave a gum flower
We prepare the necessary tools and materials: rubber bands, machine tool and hook. Weave will be on 6 columns in the center.
- The first rubber band of red color is thrown with an eight on two adjacent columns in the upper row. All other gums are also twisted.
- We throw the second on the other two neighboring columns.
- The third is thrown from the third column of the top next to the opposite in the bottom.
- Now repeat all the steps for the bottom row. It should make a circle.
- We take one rubber band of red color and we throw it on all 6 columns, dropping down, and we throw one more. We don’t let her down, leaving a distance so that the rows do not mess up.
- We hook off all the gums of the lower layer, which are twisted with an eight.
Middle of the flower
We continue weaving on the Monster Tail machine from flower gum:
- Now do the middle. We take a rubber band of white color and pull on 6 columns. We throw one more on top.
- We throw off the gum of the lower layer from each column, that is, only one red gum at the very bottom.
- We throw one white rubber on all 6 columns. We throw off all the red rubber bands in the middle.
- We again throw in the elastic and throw off the bottom layer.
- Having thrown an elastic band, now we throw off two loops on the lower layer. Two rubber bands remain on the posts.
- We throw one more white elastic band and again we throw off one loop of the lower layer.
How to finish a gum flower
- At the next stage of weaving on the Monster Tail machine from rubber bands, we do not throw a new rubber band, but we remove the lower layer.
- When there is one rubber band left on each column, reduce the number of columns used from 6 to 3. To do this, connect adjacent loops: from the right column of the lower row to the middle, from the left column of the lower row to the top, from the right column of the upper row to the middle.
- The last rubber band of white color remains - we throw it on three columns and throw off two rubber bands of the lower layer. We connect two adjacent loops on the lower columns, moving the right elastic to the left.
- We take two green gum and throw it on two columns on top and throw off all the white gum.
We remove the flower on a hook and straighten it, sipping to the sides. You can decorate with them the bracelets made of elastic bands or a ring woven on the Monster Tail loom.
