The modern flooring market is quite diverse. This also applies to materials that are used to decorate the garden. The most popular is garden parquet.
Purpose of garden parquet
Garden parquet, or decking, is used to give the site attractiveness and coziness. The presence of well-groomed paths and a plot near the house is an indicator of the excellent taste of the owner of the house, and also emphasizes his personality.
The scope of garden parquet is quite extensive. It is used as a facing material for park paths, steps, a pool or a terrace.
The garden parquet itself is a square or rectangular slab of various materials.
The benefits of gardening
This material is very popular due to its many advantages:
- garden parquet in most cases - natural material;
- long term of operation;
- It is able to accumulate heat in itself, and subsequently give it away, this is especially true in the evening;
- even with heat, the temperature of the coating remains comfortable for the body;
- resistant to moisture, including aggressive external environment;
- strong and reliable material;
- ease of installation;
- absolutely safe for humans and the environment.
Materials used for the production of garden parquet
Types of decking correspond to the materials used for its manufacture. The following varieties can be distinguished:
- Wooden garden parquet . Often these types of wood are used that are resistant to rot and mechanical damage. Most often, larch is used for this. It is this tree that practically does not rot, and is also resistant to fungi and insects. In addition, larch garden parquet is environmentally friendly, low thermal conductivity and long service life. To increase the service life, the surface must be treated with special tools at least twice a year.
- Wood-polymer composite. For the manufacture of parquet sections, sawdust and the polymer substance that binds them are used. The main advantages of this material are durability, resistance to high humidity and temperature. Special processing of the material during its manufacture at a temperature of +215 Β° C makes it immune to attack by insects and mold, cracking and drying out. In addition, this garden parquet does not require further staining or other processing. And care for its surface is quite simple.
- Plastic garden parquet. The main advantage of this type of terrace parquet is that it does not crack, does not form chips or cracks, does not lend itself to rotting, mold formation, and is insensitive to insects.
Laying garden parquet
Installation of terrace parquet provides for preparatory surface treatment, on which parquet will be laid later. This step includes leveling and ramming the plane. Garden parquet can be laid on concrete screed, wooden logs, sand and gravel surface, as well as on the ground, which has been pre-processed and rammed.
After preparing the surface, measure the area. This is necessary to calculate the required amount of material. You can start laying from any angle, the main condition is that the angle should be straight. For ease of installation, a substrate for garden parquet can be used. The modules are attached to each other with the help of special locks, this must be done in a checkerboard pattern.
If there is an obstacle in the way of laying, the module must be cut off. It is recommended to use tools for working wood for this , in particular saws with small teeth.
If necessary, for example, an appointed redevelopment, it is possible to easily dismantle the coating, and then reassemble it.
Decking Care Features
The care and frequency of surface treatment depends on the material of which the garden parquet is made. If wood is used, special treatment should take place at least twice a year. When using a plastic garden parquet or parquet from a wood-polymer composite, processing can be done every two years. Processing with special oil is also necessary to prevent burnout of the coating.
Daily care includes cleaning the surface of the parquet from snow or dirt. This should be done with water at room temperature and the usual detergents. If the resulting dirt is strong enough, such as stains from oil or cigarettes, it is recommended to use abrasive detergents.
In the event that abrasion is found on the surface, this place needs to be cleaned, and then a special impregnation layer is applied.
Proper care will significantly extend the life of the garden flooring, as well as preserve its aesthetic appearance.
