Combined boiler - design, pros and cons

Heating is one of the main aspects of comfortable living in a house. And if the installation of autonomous heating in an apartment sometimes entails immeasurable costs (oddly enough, but most of the amount goes to processing all kinds of papers and permits), then in a private house you can use absolutely any boiler. At the same time, you can lay the entire heating system as you wish. However, which boiler to choose? Many people prefer gas devices, claiming that they are the most efficient and productive. We will not argue with this statement, however, if in your country house there are frequent interruptions in the supply of gas, in such cases you just need to install a combined boiler. What this miracle device is and what it is, read in our article.

Differences from gas

Combined heating boilers look almost the same as conventional gas heat generators, but their main difference is not at all in design, but in that they can work without interruption in case of gas supply shutdown. In this case, these devices are switched to another energy source. This is often coal or firewood (in some cases, petroleum products). Moreover, the operation of such devices will be as productive as with standard gas absorption. How is this possible? Combined wood + gas heating boilers can work without losing their power, because they have their own design features. Universal heaters in their design They have special tubular electric heaters (TENs) of high power, as well as a combustion chamber for solid fuel and several burners for supplying gas or liquid fuel. In some cases, such devices are equipped with pellet burners. Thus, coal or firewood will themselves burn in the chamber without preliminary ignition. At the same time, the combined boiler has a high efficiency, however, compared with conventional gas counterparts, it is still 15-20 percent weaker.

Types

At the moment, there are several types of such devices:

  • with one burner;
  • with two burners.

The latest devices do not work on two, but even on three sources of energy. Due to its design, the combined boiler can be used both on gas and on liquid or solid fuel.

Benefits

The main plus use

combined boilers heating wood gas
The use of such a heating system is absolute autonomy from the gas supply to the system. In its absence, you can connect a different energy source at any time. Thus, in the cold season, the lack of gas will not entail freezing of water in the system.

disadvantages

The main disadvantage of this boiler is its cost, which is much higher than the price of conventional devices running on the same energy source. That is why experts recommend purchasing it only when you really have problems and interruptions in the supply of gas.

Conclusion

Now it’s clear that the combined boiler is a device that should be installed only in cases where the house often does not have a normal gas supply. Therefore, to acquire it in order to play it safe, it is simply impractical both in terms of efficiency and in terms of cost.
