Throughout its history, the emblem and flag of Novosibirsk underwent dramatic changes several times. Consider the modern symbols of the city, which proudly rise on all municipal buildings.
Novosibirsk coat of arms: description
The coat of arms can be divided into three main parts:
- shield;
- shield holders;
- foot.
The coat of arms of Novosibirsk, like other state distinctive symbols, has its own designation. Every resident of the city should know him.
The main part of the coat of arms is represented by a heraldic shield, obliquely divided by azure ribbon into two fields - green and silver. On the right side, the azure ribbon is bordered in silver. In the center (from right to left) the coat of arms of the city of Novosibirsk is surrounded by a belt, which is connected on the azure surface by the golden half of the ring. In the green field, this belt is made in silver, in silver - black. Above the shield is a crown of five golden towers with three-pointed battlements.
Shield holders are two black sables supporting the shield on the right and left sides. Red tongues are seen from the jaws of animals. Claws, noses, throats and the inside of the sable ears are silver.
At the foot of the coat of arms there is a three-color ribbon, on which along the entire length (parallel wave-like) there are strips of green, azure and silver colors. Green and azure are separated from each other by a silver thread. In the center of the foot two black arrows are crossed with red plumage and tips. Above them is a red bow. This is what the coat of arms of Novosibirsk looks like.
Symbols on the arms of Novosibirsk
As already mentioned, the symbols were borrowed from the symbols of the Siberian Khanate, which also depicted sable, bow, arrows. In a modern interpretation, the coat of arms of Novosibirsk is deciphered as follows:
- The image of sables displays rich Siberian fauna, especially fur-bearing animals.
- The blue ribbon on the shield represents the river, the mighty Ob, where Novosibirsk was built.
- Horizontal sling is a major railway, called the Trans-Siberian Railway. The bridge, which is a continuation of this highway through the Ob, is stylized as a half ring of gold. Indeed, it was thanks to its construction that Novosibirsk was formed.
- The green field symbolizes the Siberian taiga, its majestic nature, and the harsh winter here, snow depicts a silver field.
- A crown of gold indicates that the city is the administrative center of the Novosibirsk region.
Novosibirsk flag
Like the coat of arms, the Novosibirsk flag is the official symbol of this city. His cloth has a rectangular shape. It is cut diagonally into two fields: emerald and silver. There is also a blue coiling strip. A wavy blue strip is bordered on the side of the green field in white.
The green part of the flag is a symbol of health and a rich life, the silver part is pure thoughts and dazzling white snow. A strip of blue with a light border is one of the largest Ob rivers in Siberia. Thus, the heraldic symbols of Novosibirsk reflect the beauty and richness of this harsh region.
