Why is
migration registration of foreign citizens necessary
?This procedure is provided by the state in order to keep abreast of demographic changes and to formulate the correct state policy taking into account these modifications. In 2007, a new law on migration registration was issued, which canceled permanent registration for foreigners. Instead, migration registration has been introduced. The procedure for this procedure involves notifying the local branch of the Federal Migration Service. It takes 7 days after arriving in the country. Moreover, according to the new law, the receiving side is engaged in all these bureaucratic procedures, the migrant himself no longer needs to go to the authorities. The receiving party may be Russian citizens, stateless persons who have a residence permit, foreign citizens who are residents of Russia, as well as legal entities in which the immigrant lives or works. If a foreign citizen stays at a hotel, the hotel becomes the host country. She becomes responsible for migration registration. The following should be submitted to the local branch of the Federal Migration Service: a notification form for the arrival of a foreigner, a copy of the passport and a copy of the migration card. The migration card is filled at the border crossing.

The above notification can be received, filled out and handed over also in the post offices of the Russian Federation. The form is provided free of charge, but it can be handed over to the mail operator for a special fee determined by law. The notice contains the tear-off part which the alien becoming registered receives. It is the tear-off receipt that confirms that the foreigner was registered with the migration register.
Foreigners can stay in Russia as long as their visa is valid. If they do not need a visa, they can stay in Russia for up to 90 days. If a foreign citizen has been in the country for more than 90 days, a fine may be imposed (2000-5000 rubles).
Making an invitation for a foreign citizen
Issuing an invitation for a foreigner is still carried out through the Federal Migration Service. However, in recent years, it has become possible to apply for an invitation via the Internet, on a special state portal. An invitation can be issued:
- citizens of the Russian Federation,
- foreign citizens - residents of Russia,
- legal entities operating in the territory of the Russian Federation (registered in Russia or abroad).
To complete this document you need:
- application (application);
- permission to use foreign workers (if relevant);
- a letter of guarantee confirming the responsibility of the inviting party for housing, material and medical support of the invited person;
- a copy of the identification document of the invited person;
- identification document of the inviting organization / individual;
- receipt confirming the payment of state duty.
The state duty at the moment is 500 rubles. An application for an invitation is considered up to 30 days, or 5 days if it is an emergency (for example, a relative of a relative).
