Knitting is a fashionable craft that still does not lose its fans. Creating intricate patterns with two knitting needles is almost magic. The Herringbone pattern is one of the most common and interesting. Simple and concise, it will appeal to many. And even those who are holding knitting needles in their hands recently can master it.
Description of the Christmas tree pattern
Knitting the named pattern (its other name is “Spikelet”) is not difficult to knit. This is a very dense, smooth, one-sided pattern. It looks like small diagonal stitches resembling a Christmas tree in its arrangement. The fabric knitted in this way will be very dense, moderately elastic, and will retain its shape well after washing.
Most often, this is knitted from fairly thick woolen threads, not too tightening the loops. With this method of knitting with the needles of the “Herringbone” pattern, the fabric will turn out to be more textural and voluminous. "Spikelet" is perfect for knitting a snood or a dense pullover. It looks quite simple and concise, so it is often used for knitting men's things.
First row
In order to knit the Christmas tree pattern with knitting needles, you can dial any number of loops. This will not affect the appearance of the pattern. To make a sample, you can dial about 15-20 loops (if the fabric is knitted from a sufficiently thick yarn). After the required number of loops is typed, you can go to the first row:
- The first edge loop does not fit, but simply is shifted to the right knitting needle.
- Then with the right knitting needle you need to pry the next two loops at the same time at the back wall and tie them as a front one.
- The first connected loop must be dropped from the left knitting needle, and the second left. And repeat the previous action again.
- The loop that remains is knitted in the facial way together with the next.
- One of the connected loops is dropped from the left knitting needle, and the other remains.
- This action must be performed until the very end of the row.
- The loop that remains last knits like a face.
The first row, knitted with needles of the Christmas tree pattern, is ready!
Second row
The second row almost completely repeats the first, only instead of the front loops it is necessary to knit the wrong ones:
- The first edge loop is shifted from the left to the right knitting needle, and does not fit.
- Then you can proceed to the pattern itself. You must enter the right knitting needle immediately under the next two loops and tie them together as the wrong one.
- The last of the connected loops is reset, and the other remains on the left knitting needle.
- Then you need to pry the right knitting needle at the same time two extreme loops on the left knitting needle and tie them in the wrong way.
- One of the connected loops is reset, and the other again remains on the left spoke.
- And this action must be repeated until the very end of the series.
- The last loop that remains on the left needle is knitted as the wrong one.
- Next, you should continue to alternate the method of knitting the first and second row.
After about 6-7 rows are connected using this alternation, it will already be possible to evaluate how the pattern looks. It should turn out uniform.
To make the canvas smooth and accurate, it is necessary to monitor the tension of the thread. The thread should be tensioned the same, stretch loops should be made of the same size. The loops should not be too tight, but they also do not need to be very relaxed. Otherwise, the Fir-tree pattern connected in this way with knitting needles will turn out to be either too dense or loose. And loops of the same size and tension will fold into a flat canvas.
Here you can create such a beautiful and at the same time simple pattern. Having carefully read the instructions, even beginners will cope with the task.
