Tambov is one of the young cities of our vast country, but despite this, on the day of its founding on June 12, it gathers crowds of people. A bit of history
The day of the city of Tambov is celebrated on June 12 for a reason. Indeed, in 1636 it was on this day that the construction of the fortress began. This structure was to be erected in order to carry out only one function - defensive. In the XVII century. the entire Russian empire was tormented by the attack of the Crimean Tatars. That is why governor Roman Boborykin laid the first stone, and subsequently raised the stone walls of the new defensive point of the wild field.
Only after 100 years, the Tambov fortress received the status of a province. This happened in 1775 by order of Catherine II. Since then, the population of Tambov begins to grow, there are gymnasiums, libraries and hospitals. But the active development of the city was prevented by the 1917 revolution. For almost 15 years, the development of the city was frozen. But already in 1930 the first institute appeared, factories were built, and the city became an industrial center. According to data as of January 1, 2017, the population of Tambov is 290,365 people.
Activities for children
On Tambov City Day, the administration made sure that children were not left without entertainment. From 12 o’clock, a culture and leisure park functioned, where little townspeople could ride rides, eat cotton candy and popcorn. The most active children took part in drawing competitions on asphalt. Also, children could dance, sing and show their talents in gymnastic exercises. Little discoverers could try themselves as riders.
And at 16 o’clock a festive concert was organized on the square of Music organized by the forces of pupils of kindergartens and various chariographic circles. Children showed what successes they achieved in a year. And small viewers watched their peers and could be inspired by their example.
Adult Activities
Events on Tambov City Day in 2017 were noisy. It all started at 10 o’clock when the state flag was hoisted. In this solemn atmosphere, people presented certificates to people who, during the year, were listed on the city board of honor for administrative, cultural and creative activities.
From 12 o’clock all the citizens and guests of Tambov were waiting for the city park. In it, by tradition, a craft fair was organized. It was possible to purchase handmade jewelry, as well as household items. Everyone could taste tea from a samovar, which was boiled with firewood. For tea, city craftsmen prepared a cake whose diameter exceeded 2 m. At 18 o’clock a brass band marched in the streets of the city. This stunning sight opened the show program, which started on Tambov City Day at 20.00.
Holiday concert
The city day of Tambov, the program for which was written in advance, was diversified by not only local talents, but also Russian and even foreign stars. Popular singer Natalie came to congratulate Tambov residents. Her song “Oh my God, what a man” remained for more than six months in many musical tops. Foreign stars were represented by Thomas Anders. This singer has long been a member of the Modern Talking music group, and now is successfully pursuing a solo career. The festive concert was also attended by dance groups and musical ensembles of the city.
Fireworks

The festivities ended at 0.30. After this time, people continued to celebrate the solemn event in nightclubs, which worked until the morning. We can say that City Day was a success and 381 year was celebrated successfully.
