How to care for gaillardia

Choose a place for the plant that is well lit by the sun, with dry and moderately fertile soil. Additional introduction of manure and acidification is not required. Gaylardiya easily suffer a long break between watering. It is often propagated vegetatively - by dividing the bush. Hybrid gailardia, whose seedlings are sold in flower markets, will better retain varietal characteristics if propagated by seeds. They are sown in early April on the beds in the greenhouse. In early August, transplanted - next year the plant is guaranteed to bloom. Rhizomes for vegetative propagation are divided in early spring - this is facilitated by the fact that gailardia blooms late. You can also do this in early September, if autumn in your area is often warm. It is important that the bushes have time to begin to frost. An overgrown gaillardia needs a garter or props. Then the bush has a more well-groomed appearance. Gailardia tolerates summer, practically without requiring watering, except in the most arid periods. During the budding period, fertilizing with mineral fertilizer is performed. To prevent freezing in cold winters, it is better to mulch the gaillardia with peat, humus or spruce needles.
