Many flower growers choose flowers that would look good on their plots, but at the same time they would not have to be especially looked after. Of course, all plants in one way or another require care, but some are less whimsical, while others are too capricious. These easy-to-care flowers include gailardia. Growing from seeds and dividing the bush are the main ways to breed this plant.
Gailardia is also called an elegant chamomile, it really is similar to it, only terry inflorescences come in different shades: red, yellow, orange and even brown. Closer to the middle, the flower is dark, and light along the edges. There is both annual and
perennial gaillardia. Cultivation is not too time-consuming, so it can often be seen on garden plots, in discounts and even along fences.
The inflorescences are large, up to 10 cm in diameter, the bush grows 50-80 cm high. Flowering begins in June and lasts until September. There are no special soil requirements, but gailardia does not take root very well in clay areas with waterlogged soil. It easily tolerates drought, so in the summer it needs only minor watering. It can propagate by root cuttings, seeds or by dividing the bush. Perennial plant in one place grows up to 5 years.
If winters are very cold, and the bushes are not preserved, then gailardia is grown from seeds. They can be planted in open land in April or May, depending on the weather, and in the fall "relocate" seedlings to a permanent place. If you want the plant to bloom this year, then the seeds are sown in containers or a greenhouse at the beginning of March, and in early May the resulting sprouts are planted in open ground, since the gailardia should bloom in June.
Growing from seeds is not the only way to propagate this flower. If there is already a mature adult bush, then it can be planted, previously divided by secateurs or a shovel. Transplantation is possible both in spring and early autumn, so that the plants have time to take root. The flower, as has already been said, does not require special care, but at least once you need to make fertilizing with fertilizer, which is so responsive gailardia.
Growing from seeds is possible in random order. If a bush is already growing on the site, and the flowers that have bloomed cannot be cut on it, then in September seeds will come out from the dried-up baskets, which will germinate next spring. Such plants should be planted at a distance of 50 cm from each other. Despite the unpretentiousness of leaving, Gailardia looks very nice on flower beds, in mixborders and in bouquets.
Growing from seeds allows you to get healthier seedlings, the flowers will be large, and the leaves are juicy. Perennial gailardia grows every year and forms an increasingly large and sprawling bush that needs to be tied up or planted. Before planting a plant in the hole, you need to add a bucket of manure, a couple of glasses of wood ash and water the soil well. So it will take root more quickly and will grow. Gaylardia has very
beautiful flowers that look great in a bouquet and do not fade for two weeks.
