Each capable and healthy citizen of the Russian Federation aged 18 to 60 years can become a donor (provided by law from 06.06.1993). This category of people benefits. Full support is given to donors. Donor benefits are provided for free blood donation for one year, if the total amount of the product is equal to two acceptable doses. Citizens bearing the “Honorary Donor” sign are granted special benefits. Such people have the right to receive free extraordinary treatment in municipal and state medical institutions. Benefits to honorary donors allow free treatment and prosthetics (except for the use of precious metals). A preferential purchase of medicines is supposed (a reduction in price to 50% of their cost), a 50 percent discount on utility bills, and preferential loans for individual construction are paid.

The blood service without fail insures against infection in the performance of donor obligations. The legislation of the Russian Federation provides for the payment of damage for harm to health (includes the costs of treatment, medical examination, and rehabilitation). The occurrence of disability after the fulfillment of donor obligations is equivalent to that occurring after a work injury. The listed benefits are provided to donors upon presentation of certificates in accordance with the laws of the Russian Federation.
