Gumboil AN47 is a demanded material that is widely used in welding work to protect the weld zone from environmental influences, improve the quality of joints and chemical cleaning of surfaces. This component is used in blacksmithing and gas welding. The application of material on the surface leads to the formation of a protective layer, which becomes a fertile base for the dissolution of oxides that are formed on welded elements.
Appointment
The AN47 flux is used to connect surfaces, structural parts from low alloy and carbon steels, which are operated at elevated and low temperatures. Especially suitable material if necessary:
- Heavyweight bridge structures.
- Oil and gas pipelines with pipe connections of significant diameter.
- Thick-walled reactor columns, where not only the highest resistance to metal destruction as a result of exposure to aggressive chemical factors, but also the high toughness of suture joints is required.
Basic flux AN47 promotes the formation of high purity compounds according to non-metallic inclusions. This base significantly improves the stability of the joints in the layout of thick-walled surfaces and significant structural loads.
The properties
Since the AN47 flux allows you to create high-quality, stable arcs, they resort to its use if necessary to perform the most accurate seams. The result of the use of the material is the formation of smooth transitions at the junctions to the base metal.
Flux has a low tendency to form cracks and all kinds of pores in the thickness of welded joints. This base shows good separability of the slag crust.
Gumboil AN47 is characterized by the following characteristics:
- The shade of grains is black, dark brown.
- The structure is glassy.
- The grain size is from 0.25 to 2.5 mm.
- Bulk weight - up to 1.8 kg / dm 3 .
Security
Working with flux during packaging, sorting, transportation, and directly performing welding activities is accompanied by a significant release of chemical dust, which contains potentially dangerous silicon, fluoride, manganese compounds. Therefore, when handling the material, the use of personal protective equipment is of primary importance : workwear, respirators, goggles, gauze dressings, and gloves.
With regard to human exposure, flux dust has an average toxicity level. The penetration of the chemical base into the body through the skin, respiratory organs, mucous membranes causes extremely unpleasant irritations, not to mention the more serious consequences with regular, prolonged contact with the material.
