Modern look

The flag of Malaysia, the photographs of which were seen by many travelers interested in Asian countries, is a cloth of traditional rectangular shape. Its sides relate to each other in a proportion of two to one. The cloth is covered with fourteen horizontal stripes. Red and white alternate in turn. They symbolize the thirteen states of which the state consists, and the government of the country. The red strip is located on top, and the white panel completes the panel. Above, across the width of eight stripes, there are blue roofs. It depicts a golden crescent and a star with fourteen rays, which has a similar meaning to the stripes. This is a sign of the unity of power and thirteen states. In addition, the crescent is an Islamic symbol, which indicates the religion of most of the country's inhabitants.

Color meaning

Prior to gaining sovereignty in 1963, the flag of Malaysia did not exist. The country belonged to Britain, being its colony. This explains the choice of shades for the panel. The flag of Malaysia uses white, blue and red - exactly the same as the flag of the United Kingdom.

Appearance story

The first steps to create a state flag were taken in 1949. Then a national competition for the best project was announced. The winner was an architect named Johor Mohammed bin Hamza. He worked in government. Johor decided to take as a basis the banner used by the British ships participating in the East India Campaign.

In the original draft, the English flag was placed on the roof. This option was approved by King George the Sixth, and began to use the panel since 1950. After independence, a modern version was installed. On the roof appeared a star with fourteen rays. The name "Nice Striped" appeared not so long ago, although it is currently used very widely. He was appropriated with a banner in 1997. Then the Prime Minister solemnly announced at the Independence Day that the flag now has an official name.

The naval forces use a different banner. It is white, the national flag of Malaysia is placed on the roof, and a blue anchor is drawn below the flagpole, behind which two sabers cross.
