To ensure long-term operation of metal products, the foundation and facade of a house, industrial equipment and concrete surfaces, it is necessary to use protective coatings. Organosilicate paints belong to such compositions. They reliably protect surfaces from atmospheric and chemical influences and high temperatures.
Composition and features of protective equipment
Organosilicate paints are a suspension of silicate substances and various modifying fillers on organosilicon varnishes. A variety of additives regulates the technical characteristics of the material and determines the scope of its application. To add color to the composition, pigments are added.
Organosilicate paints are particularly effective in anti-corrosion treatment. They can be used both on the facades of buildings, and for coating industrial equipment, reinforced concrete and other metal products.
Such compounds perfectly tolerate heat and exposure to low temperatures. They are highly adhesive to ceramics, concrete and metal surfaces. Under the most severe operating conditions, the compositions do not lose their protective properties, so that they become more popular.
Technical characteristics of organosilicate compositions
The properties of protective coatings depend on the constituent components and the type of suspension itself. For example, one-component organosilicate paint OS-12-03 has the following characteristics:
- The type of protective layer is homogeneous, without impurities, semi-matt.
- Colors - white, yellow, pink, blue and brown compositions.
- The viscosity of the suspension (at a temperature of +20 o C) is about 20 C.
- Drying to degree 3 (at a temperature of +20 ° C) - no more than 4 hours.
- Adhesion to the surface - 2 B.
- Acquisition of resistance to moisture - after 24 hours.
- Spreading rate of the coating is from 60 to 100 g / m 2 (depending on the color of the composition).
- Operating temperature range - from -60 to +300 .
The two-component organosilicate paint OS-51-03 has maximum hiding power and the ability to tolerate high temperatures. It can be used on heating mains and for processing heating tanks.
Scope of application
Organosilicate compositions OS-12-03 are characterized by increased strength, so they are used to protect industrial boilers, tanks, autoclaves, industrial furnaces. Such paints are successfully used in the processing of supports of underground tunnels, reinforced concrete structures, railway networks and brick structures.
Enamel OS-12-03 reliably protects products exposed to gases and various chemicals. High resistance to moisture allows you to actively use the composition for the treatment of building facades and their foundations.
Organosilicate paint OS-51-03 is more used for anti-corrosion treatment of pipelines, premises of heating enterprises and surfaces that are not exposed to stray currents. This variety perfectly tolerates heating, which is its main advantage.
Preparation for work
Before applying the composition, the working surface is cleaned of dirt and dust, oil residues, salt deposits, grease and traces of corrosion. If there is too much rust, the substrate is treated with a converter. However, this is permissible only in cases where the operation of the product is carried out at a temperature of not more than 100 about C.
Organosilicate paints can only be applied after degreasing the surfaces. For these purposes, xylene or solvent can be used. If processing is carried out in the conditions of the street, enamel is applied within 6 hours after degreasing. Indoors, the composition is used within 24 hours.
Before starting work, the paint is thoroughly mixed and diluted with a solvent according to the instructions. It is not necessary to use primers.
Features of coating
Organosilicate paints 12-03 and 51-03 can be applied in any way: with a brush, roller or by pneumatic spraying. Processing is carried out at a temperature from -30 to +40 ° C. At the same time, air humidity should not exceed 80%.
Recommendations for the use of protective compounds are as follows:
- Processing of welds, ends of products, edges and other complex sections is carried out with a brush. Repeated application of the composition can be made from a spray.
- Metal products are tripled. In this case, each layer is applied to a fully dried coating.
- The final hardness of the protective layer becomes with increasing surface temperature. To speed up the process, you can use hot drying.
- If the painted surface is operated in an aggressive environment, the applied composition must be “fixed”. For this, a single surface heating is carried out (for 10-15 minutes) to 250-400 .
The consumption of the OS-05-03 variety is about 220 g / m 2. The basic composition of the OS-12-03 has indicators much higher - 550 g / m 2 . This must be taken into account when calculating the required amount of paint.
