The modern emblem of Tyumen was approved in April 2005 by decision of the City Council. Its author is Alexander Grefenstein. The flag of Tyumen was developed by Alexander Grefenshtein based on the city coat of arms. The proportions of the rectangular panel are 2: 3. The flag is divided into three horizontal stripes that differ in width.
The upper strip is blue and the largest. It houses the image of the ship with the coat of arms of Tyumen. The other two stripes are the same in size, the width of each is half the width of the upper strip. In the middle is a strip of white, at the bottom - blue.
The vessel is associated with the development of trade relations, therefore it is depicted in golden color and symbolizes wealth and prosperity. The whole composition is placed on a silver shield of the French type. In the center is the outline or outline of the Tyumen region. It is divided into three horizontal areas of white, blue and green. In the middle of the outline is a circle. Its upper half depicts the rising sun, whose rays are within the outline. The lower part of the circle is represented by black and blue vertical stripes.
