Even those who are far from the first time to drive a car do not always know how fast you can move in certain places. Of course, before embarking on a journey, it is best to find out what is the allowed speed on the highway, in the cities, villages and courtyards that you plan to drive. If almost everything remembers about maximum restrictions, then for some reason they forget that certain roads cannot be driven too slowly. But the 16th paragraph of the SDA establishes the rules for motorways. It says that on these roads the
movement of pets, pedestrians, mopeds, bicycles and other means, the speed of which according to technical parameters cannot exceed 40 km / h, is
prohibited .
It is also not permitted to stop transport outside specially designated areas, turns and entrances to breaks lanes intended for technological purposes, training driving or reversing.
In addition, the rules of paragraph 16 apply to "Roads for cars", which are marked with the sign 5.3. They are subject to the same restrictions on the minimum speed limit, the presence of pedestrians, slow-moving vehicles. They differ from motorways “roads for cars” only in that they do not have dividing lanes and multi-level traffic interchanges. Moreover, the sign 5.3 does not mean that the specified path is the main in relation to the others.
Driving in settlements
It doesn’t matter if you are driving along a highway that divides a small village, or moving around the city, your speed is limited. Even a slight violation of traffic rules can lead to an emergency and disastrous consequences. So, the rules set the permitted speed in the village, it is the same for everyone and does not depend on the traffic, the number of pedestrians or people living there. For all vehicles, it cannot exceed 60 km / h. If you are moving along the highway and entering the city, then look at the signs - so you can understand when the settlement begins. Do not forget to slow down at this moment.
When driving through residential areas marked with the sign 5.21, or in the courtyards, the speed cannot be higher than 20 km / h. This is the only way to ensure the safety of people living there, who have the right to safely walk near their homes, recreation areas and playgrounds. By the way, in such places, drivers are obliged to let absolutely all pedestrians pass, even if they walk along the roadway outside a specially equipped crossing.
Legal reservations for settlements
But traffic rules established the opportunity at the regional level to establish higher speed readings for individual vehicles. This is done if the road conditions allow for safe traffic in certain sections of the road. If the local government decides what the permitted speed should be on the highway passing through the settlement, then this will be drawn up with the appropriate road signs. But at the same time, it can not be more than the established values ​​for highways. If you exit the road on which another speed limit is allowed, then the rules for the settlement immediately begin to apply.

It’s not a secret to anyone that for heavy vehicles their limitations are set. So, the permitted speed on the highway for trucks, the maximum mass of which exceeds 3.5 tons, is 70 km / h for all roads that pass outside the territories of settlements. The same restrictions are set for buses that do not apply to those listed in the previous paragraph, and for all vehicles that travel with a trailer. If you need to tow another car, the speed cannot be higher than 50 km / h.
Special conditions
Currently, Russian law provides that in some cases it is possible to increase the maximum allowed speed. True, the decision on this should be made by the owner or owner of the road. For example, subject to a number of conditions on highways, speed can be increased to 130 km / h. To do this, there should be no sharp narrowings, turns, ramps, steep descents and ascents and traffic lights on the specified route. That is, there are quite few places where the indicated speed can be allowed. At the same time, not a single track falls completely under the permitted driving mode. Most often these are certain sections of highways. But drivers can not choose them at their discretion, they have special signs.

Also, when making a maneuver, it is necessary to remember not only compliance with the speed limit, but also about other rules, closely monitor the road markings.
