Kanzashi sunflower is a very beautiful and easy-to-execute flower. They can decorate any accessory, and to make it yourself is very easy. For the petals, you need a yellow satin ribbon 2.5 cm wide: we cut it into pieces 5 cm long. They are performed according to the same principle as for an aster, and should be long and sharp. For leaves, we take a green ribbon 2.5 cm wide. Foliage is an optional element, but it adds a contrast flower.
How to make the middle of the tape
In the kanzashi technique, it is very important for the sunflower to choose the right base. Well, if it will be felt. Cut a circle with a diameter of 7 cm from it. For the middle, you can use beads, beads or a simple rep ribbon. In the master class we will work with the tape, but first it needs to be threaded and tightened tightly around the edges so that an accordion is learned.
You will need a black ribbon 1 cm wide and 40 cm long, as well as 60 cm brown. Instead of a rep ribbon, you can use a satin. Let's start the master class "Sunflower-Kanzashi".
Making flower petals
Cut off the yellow tape 5 cm and fold the sides together, face out. Tweezers will help keep the petal in place and reduce the risk of being burned with a lighter. You can scorch the edges with a candle, lighter or soldering iron. Cut one edge of the tape diagonally and fix the edges on one side. Now we form the opposite side of the petal, folding both edges in the middle, align in the center and fix them in place, again singeing the edge. We make about 35 such blanks.
Creating a middle for a sunflower from kanzashi tapes
The central part of the flower should be voluminous. We prepare the tape for the middle of the flower: singe the edge, take a needle and thread in tone, fold the material in half, string it on the thread and pull it together. The middle of black can be done later by fixing it to glue.
Another option is to immediately fold the tape in a spiral and sew it in matching colors, turning the workpiece in your hands to get a voluminous part. We glue the felt blank and the core, placing it in the center.
Picking a flower
We begin the assembly of the kanzashi sunflower from the outer edge: we stick the petals close to each other. The first layer will need about 18 petals. Then we make the second circle - for it we need about 14 petals. At the very end of the assembly, glue a brown ribbon around the black center. She must close the edges of the petals. Additionally, the center of the flower can be decorated with artificial insects, rhinestones or beads. Such a flower will perfectly complement the kanzashi wreath in the Ukrainian style.
Kansashi sunflower: a master class on creating a flower with curved petals
You can make a sunflower in another way. The petals will be rounded, and the middle will consist of beads. We prepare the necessary materials:
- satin ribbon yellow 5 cm wide and green 2.5 cm wide;
- tweezers;
- a lighter;
- black beads;
- scissors;
- knife or spoon;
- clean cloth;
- fishing line;
- glue gun.
The process of making a flower:
- From the yellow ribbon, cut 24 rectangles 6 cm long, and divide the green ribbon into 12 segments 6.5 cm long.
- We begin to form the petals from the yellow ribbon: we fold the rectangle in half with the wrong side inward and cut into two halves. To make the edges of the kanzashi sunflower petals look more natural, we cut a narrow strip of ribbon from one edge.
- First, cut off the right, and then the left upper edge diagonally: you should get a sharp petal.
- Now you need to round the side corners. With the green ribbon we do the same. The only difference: we make the triangles at the end sharper and do not cut the side edges of the tape. This leaflet will be at the very bottom, and it will almost not be visible.
- It remains to burn the blanks with a candle, without bending them. We do this to fix the edge so that it does not crumble. Clean leaves without soot can be obtained by using the lower part of the candle flame.
- Now we need a knife or spoon, depending on which is more convenient to use. Additionally, we prepare clean material for cleaning the tool from soot. If there is a gas stove, the process will go faster - the knife will get less dirty.
- In the work we use the blunt side of the knife: we heat it over the fire and wipe it with a cloth. Then we take a sunflower petal and apply two parallel strips on the fabric, starting from the wrong side. Turn over, on the front side between the folds make three lines. The result is a corrugated petal.
- We repeat these steps on all other blanks from yellow ribbon and green leaves.
- Now we form the petals and leaves: we put the right corner of each blank to the left, and the left - to the right. We scorch the bottom of the candle.
- Pulling the ribbon, we begin to bend the petal outward, drawing the edges over the fire. Green petals bend more.
When all the blanks are ready, it remains only to collect the flower. On the felt base with a diameter of 5 cm, glue the first row of green petals in the amount of 12 pcs. Next, we begin to glue the yellow petals in a checkerboard pattern, without shifting to the center. There are also 12 petals in this row. In the third row, the yellow petals are glued in a checkerboard pattern between the petals of the second row. To design the center, we need faceted black beads and fishing line with a diameter of 0.18 mm. We add the fishing line in 4 additions, fix it on the wrong side and begin to sew the beads in a circle. It remains to fix the fishing line, and the sunflower is ready! From it you can make a hair accessory, a brooch or use it to create a composition of ribbons.
