Silent Storm is a turn-based tactical role-playing game developed by Nival Interactive. Actions unfold during the Second World War, but as if in parallel reality. Here you and the Nazi walking robots, Tesla guns - all this is the game Silent Storm 4. Release date - August 22, 2003. During its existence, the game has acquired a huge army of fans. Operation Quiet Storm is one of the best representatives of the genre. Real-time strategies are not such a frequent guest on gamers' computers. If you need the best games on the PC, then it is just right.
Details about the plot
The story begins in 1943, where a secret organization called the Thor's Hammer set itself the goal of capturing the whole world. The MT leadership knows that complete enslavement will not be possible until at least some military or political alliances exist in the world. Therefore, they begin to develop powerful orbital weapons that can hit any point on the planet’s surface with a laser beam. Thanks to him, you can not even start a war, keeping the leadership of leading countries in fear. Having entered into a conspiracy with the Nazis, MT exchanges his secret best practices with them, namely the drawings of the Panzerkleins - heavy walking robots that bullets cannot take. They can even be damaged with anti-tank weapons. Having received rocket technology from the Germans, Thor's Hammer begins construction of the station. The Allied countries are not far behind in technical terms: special units with advanced weapons such as beam cannons or Tesla lightning generators, as well as combat exoskeletons, were put forward to fight the new enemy .

Silent Storm 4 Gameplay
You can play for the Axis countries or join the ranks of the anti-Hitler coalition. Also at the beginning of the game a choice of 12 characters of 6 different nationalities is provided. The role-playing system is fairly straightforward: you can choose only three main parameters for your fighter. This is strength, agility and intelligence. To complete several entrance tasks, the player gains full access to the base, where there is a hospital where you can put wounded soldiers, an arsenal regularly replenished with weapons captured from the enemy, an office of bosses and a hangar with military equipment. You can form your own squad of 6 people (including the main character). An interesting feature of Silent Storm 4 is the almost 100% destructibility of game levels. You can break anything here. Bursts of machine guns easily make holes in wooden structures or thin walls, and bazookas and grenades carry whole buildings at once. The exploding landmine will not only destroy that part of the wall near which the explosion occurred, but will also knock out all the windows in the house, and the corpses that were nearby at that moment would scatter in all directions. Locked doors, heaps of drawers and other "obstacles" are no longer such. The player makes a hole in the wall and calmly moves on.
You can even kill opponents through obstacles. For example, the line from the Tommy Gan fired at the ceiling will kill a German who has settled there. Ballistics are also at their best: bullets adequately respond to various types of obstacles and are reliably observed at the entry and exit points. A bullet fired at an angle can ricochet and hit an adversary or an arrow. Prior to this, games for Windows did not shine with such tactical capabilities.
Levels
Some levels were created by game designers, but most of them are generated according to a principle reminiscent of Diablo, that is, literally on the fly from already existing prepared segments, while there are a lot of details, and the quality of the textures is pleasing to the eye. The foliage on the trees is dense and executed separately, and not like in most similar projects in a single piece, small details on the shelves, appliances on the tables, paper scattered across the floor, and even the sparkling lenses of optical sights and binoculars - the work of artists is felt in every frame. The consequences of the battle are no less pleasing. Spray and puddles of blood, bodies, scattered garbage, weapons and ammunition - all this enhances the impression of the game and gives a special realism to what is happening. Game saves are not in all areas of the level, but only in certain places, for example, when a player finds a secret document in a safe or after especially hot fights.

Silent Storm 4 Characters
In total, six character classes are available in the game: scout, grenadier, medic, sniper, soldier and engineer. Each of them has its own skill tree (looks very much like a similar system in Diablo 2), the number and type of skills change as you progress. Characters get experience not for killing enemies, but only for completing tasks and finding so-called "evidence" (secret documents, drawings, etc.), the amount of experience depends on the type of task, speed and quality of the mission. This system is used today by many games for Windows.
Scout
A scout is a pest. The character quickly learns about covert movement (much faster than other fighters), after which laying mines, dynamite and other traps becomes only a matter of time. Although the character is boring because of its type of gameplay, it definitely will not suit extreme lovers.
Sniper
Sniper - vulnerable in large skirmishes, but literally indispensable on large maps and in case you need to remove single opponents without attracting too much noise. The arsenal has a pretty powerful melee gun, but you shouldn’t engage in such battles. It is better to sit in shelter and shoot the enemy from a safe distance.
Grenadier
Grenadier is a professional grenade thrower, capable of making enemies literally in packs, grenades inflict huge damage, destroying 5-6 opponents at a time. It’s quite difficult to play a character that’s not pumped, but after a while you can get used to and turn the grenadier into a killing machine.
Soldier
Soldier - ideally owns automatic weapons. Vulnerable enough, but the adrenaline rush will help to quickly change the outcome of the battle in their favor. After the discovery of powerful machine guns, playing for a soldier is a pleasure!
Medic
A medic is a “lack of sniper”, owns long-range weapons and unlimited treatment options. The gameplay for the medic is similar to that for the sniper, but with the ability to cheer yourself up with various dope.
Engineer
An engineer is a skilled craftsman in everything, but it is difficult to call him a professional. It is necessary for opening safes, heavily armored doors and other inaccessible places where there are complex locks. He is capable of firing from almost any type of weapon, using all the technical equipment and devices available in the game, and with a large first-aid kit, he is able to perform the function of a medic. The downside of this character is that in battle, he usually dies before anyone else due to the extremely small amount of health.
Tactical Silent Storm 4 is definitely suitable for people with strategic thinking, and indeed for all lovers of strategies, plus the shooter component is also up to par. And despite the fact that the toy is already quite old, it has not lost its high class even after the lapse of time. Even the modern strategic best games on the PC are in many ways inferior to it.
