Modern apartment renovation is impossible to imagine without the use of a ceiling plinth. It is used not only when it comes complete with ceiling tiles, but also as a separate decorative element. The ceiling plinth allows you to give the ceiling a finished look, make it elegant and neat. Self-assembly of the ceiling plinth requires the possession of some skills that will allow you to do this correctly and efficiently.
First of all, you need to determine the type of glue. Although the question of how to glue the ceiling plinth, in our time should not cause great difficulties. The market of finishing materials can offer a huge assortment of adhesive compositions that allow for high-quality installation of the skirting board. This process does not require special knowledge, it is only necessary to responsibly approach the performance of this simple work.
A prerequisite that must be met before gluing the ceiling plinth is the ceiling is ready: it must be puttied. It is also important what the wall covering will be. If it is supposed to paint the walls, then the fillet device is best after painting. When choosing a wallpaper for a wall, there are two options: you can glue a ceiling plinth before gluing the walls or after it. In the first case, an exact fit of the edges of the wallpaper at the places where they adjoin the baseboard is required. When choosing the second option, special care is necessary, since you can spoil the wallpaper with glue. At the same time, this option has its advantages, as it allows you to hide defects in the adjacency of the wall to the ceiling. At the same time, there is no need to spend time on precisely fitting the wallpaper to the lower end of the baseboard.
Before gluing the ceiling plinth, it is necessary to prepare the appropriate tools for the work. You will definitely need a knife (it is best to use a painter with a sharp blade), a miter box for cutting fillets at an angle of 90 and 45 degrees, an acrylic sealant and a hacksaw with a small tooth (you can use a hacksaw for metal).
Before gluing the ceiling plinth, you need to determine the angle from which the work will begin. This can be an arbitrary choice, or you can start work from the far corner of the room. The design of the angle begins with filing fillets at an angle of 45 degrees. To do this, use a miter box and a hacksaw. The knife is used if it is necessary to precisely fit directly on the ceiling. The glue is applied on two sides: on the one that will be adjacent to the wall, and on the one that is adjacent to the ceiling.
Before how to glue the ceiling baseboard, it is recommended to check the evenness of the wall. If necessary, you can align it with putty. This will allow you to do the job more efficiently, because the joint between the fillets at the places of contact with the walls and ceiling will be almost invisible. In addition, it is possible to perform additional processing of the joints between fillets both in straight sections and in the corners with fine-grained putty, which is then ground - carefully so as not to damage the surface of the plinth.
We use acrylic sealant at the completion stage. Using a pistol, we treat them with gaps that can form at the junctions, thereby creating a monolithic structure, where the walls, ceiling and ceiling plinth will look as a whole. The use of sealant allows you to give additional strength to the adhesion of the skirting board with two adjacent bases.
In the future, you can paint the ceiling skirting in the same color scheme with the walls or ceiling or in a contrasting color.
