In this article, we will tell you about how to make a monkey mask with your own hands. You won’t need a lot of materials, since you can even create such a product from paper for children's creativity.
How to make a do-it- yourself monkey mask from plain paper
To make the simplest mask, you need simple paper (it is better to choose thick), paints, felt-tip pens or pencils, a wooden ice cream stick, scissors and glue.
First, take a sheet of plain paper and draw on it a muzzle of a monkey with large ears. With a black felt-tip pen, designate the mouth, eyes and ears. Cut the face and eye holes. Do not make the distance between the eyes too wide, otherwise the monkey mask made with your own hands will be great for your child. Then, glue a wooden ice cream stick from the back. You can paint such a mask with simple pencils, felt-tip pens or paints. If you made a mask from too thin paper, then on the other side you can stick a cardboard. So the product will be more durable and will not wrinkle much.
Polymer clay mask
But to make a mask from polymer clay is much more difficult than from plain paper. First, keep in mind that plastic is usually very expensive. Secondly, it must be baked. But a monkey mask made with polymer clay with its own hands will be much stronger than paper. It is unlikely to break in the fall and even less so to remember. About five hundred grams of clay can take you to make such a mask.
First, take the required amount of clay and roll it into a layer with a thickness of about five to six millimeters. Then, with a stack or a toothpick, draw a monkey face on this layer. Next, cut the unnecessary clay. And with your fingers give the necessary relief to the muzzle. Shape the eyebrows, nose, mouth and ears of the monkey. If necessary, at this stage you can tint the face with powder or a special clay powder.
After you have made a muzzle, send it to bake. Such a large product should spend in the oven for at least thirty minutes. Do not immediately pull the mask out of the oven, otherwise you may break it. The most inexpensive and reasonable option is to make a mask from a simple felt. You can use the pattern template that you see in the photo below. First, cut the head out of the dark brown felt along with the monkey's ears. Then make a muzzle from light felt. Do not forget to make cuts for the eyes. Make a monkey mouth out of a black piece of felt. Sew together all the details and attach the rope or elastic to the mask. To make the monkey mask , made with your own hands, more durable, it is better to take a hard and thick felt. The bangs of the mask can be made of faux fur. If you want a similar mask to be even more durable, then stick a layer of cardboard on the wrong side.
DIY foam rubber monkey mask
The most difficult thing is to make a monkey out of foam rubber. But a mask made of this material will be light and very beautiful. First, make a muzzle silhouette out of thick cardboard or felt. You can use the pattern pattern in the previous photo. Then sweep a foam rubber one or one and a half centimeters thick on the cardboard. Next, take a velvet fabric or fabric for tights. Draw on the foam rubber with chalk the contours of the muzzle of a monkey. Form the nose and eyebrows with a thread and a needle.
