Creation

Igor Saveliev’s debut book titled “The Tip of the Iceberg” was published in 2005 by Generation Publishing House. It was a collection, which, in addition to Savelyev’s novel “The Pale City,” included works by two other authors: Sasha Grishchenko and Stanislav Benecki.

The heroes of the Pale City are young informal people hitchhiking. The author says that despite the fact that “the words here are American,” this work is about the Russian road and Russian longing.

Another story Savelyev deserves the attention of readers - "Tereshkova flies to Mars." Like Tereshkova, who always dreamed of flying to Mars, the hero of this work also dreams that every year it seems more and more unrealizable: to be near her beloved girl and do what she loves. The hero actually naively protests against the cynical "world of adults." Will he be able to win?

Prizes and awards

Saveliev’s first published work was successful: with the Pale City, he entered the short list of the Debut Prize and the Belkin Prize, and, in addition, the long list of the Yasnaya Polyana Prize.

In 2008, the writer became the finalist of Debut for the play Port Wine, Cobain and Tied Hands, and the winner of the Ural Magazine Prize for his critical articles. In 2013, Igor Savelyev was awarded the State Republican Prize named after Babich.
