Fillets are called openwork patterns crocheted on the basis of a sirloin net. This is the simplest form of patterned fabric, but it also has its own difficulties. What is a loin pattern?
Often the canvases connected with a sirloin pattern look like a grid with rectangular cells. Some of them are filled and look solid, others remain empty. The combination of filled cells and forms a picture. Sometimes other types of nets are used to complement the loin pattern with a hook. A scheme with square cells formed by double crochets (CST) and air loops (VP) is always the simplest. It is visually understandable to almost all knitters, and it is also very easy to draw a pattern in the middle of the fabric and along its edge.
The basis for sirloin patterns is the corresponding pattern designed for knitting or embroidery. When adapting embroidery patterns, one-color patterns and ornaments should be preferred. Crochet sirloin pattern (pattern and type of product do not matter) is knitted with only one type of yarn, the creation of multi-colored canvases is impossible. Therefore, color schemes embodied without the participation of threads of different colors may be blurry and fuzzy.
Secrets of a neat canvas
For the manufacture of products containing loin mesh elements, it is necessary to use dense cotton or linen yarn. This will allow you to get a really high-quality canvas that will hold its shape, does not deform and does not sag. In extreme cases, a thread with a small amount of acrylic or polyamide (not more than 50%) is suitable.
It is better to take the hook a little smaller than recommended for knitting the selected thread. Also, a sirloin pattern with a hook (the diagram does not illustrate this, so you just need to remember) provides for knitting the CCH not under the upper “braids” of the previous CCH, but with the hook being set much deeper, in the middle of the column. In this way, a high density filet pattern is achieved.
The biggest flaw of the sirloin cloth is its sloppy design, in which the holes formed by stretched loops and loosely connected CCHs interfere with the correct perception of the pattern.
Crochet: filet patterns for all occasions
The application of sirloin knitting is really extremely wide. This technique has come from centuries ago and still does not lose relevance. It is used for the manufacture of traditional products in folklore style and for trendy wardrobe items. Border, or lace openwork - this is the most popular area of application of filet patterns among knitters of many generations. It is used to decorate curtains, tablecloths, towels, children's bedspreads, the lower edge of dresses and skirts, as well as wherever the craftswoman plans to place it.

Obviously, her knitting occurs in a slightly unusual way: across. That is, the border fits in short return rows. The height of the finished fabric will be equal to the length of the edge to which it will be sewn.
Each empty cell of a sirloin cloth is formed by a CCH and two VPs. The beginning of the next cell begins with a new CCH. Thus, every two cells have an adjacent CCH. To fill and knit, instead of two VP, two CCHs are performed. Thus, the filled cell is formed by three CCHs.
It should be noted that there is a method of knitting sirloin patterns in which the gap between the CCH is filled with one VP or one CCH. Such cells will be of irregular elongated shape, and the pattern will turn out to be deformed. The same story occurs if 2 CCHs are knitted, and the gap remains filled with two VPs or two CCHs. With an increase in the number of crochets, it is also necessary to increase the cell filling by one unit (3 VP, 3 CCH).

Those craftswomen who happened to deal with ornaments made on the basis of traditional patterns note that the sirloin net with a hook (patterns can be floral, geometric or completely fantasy) lends itself perfectly to adaptation for the manufacture of various objects.
For example, a pattern on a wide border can be divided into elements (the pattern itself, its frame, the openwork edge of the border) and used in various combinations. Thus, it is possible to knit, for example, a curtain and pillows. The main element of the pattern serves as the center of the pillowcase, and the binding is transformed into openwork ruffles.
