The question of how to water orchids at home arises from beginning gardeners quite often. And this is great if beginners prefer to find out the answer, rather than relying on intuition, because caring for these flowers, including watering them, is very different from caring for plants of other families.
There are 3 main ways to water orchids. At home, all of them can be easily implemented, but each grower chooses the method that will be most convenient for him. Usually, orchids of the phalaenopsis genus live in houses, so the presented watering methods will primarily relate to caring for them.
The first way - watering by immersion. This technique is one of the most common, it is familiar to almost all gardeners. In order to water the orchid, you can take a rather deep flower pot, pour water inside, and then put a flower pot there for about half an hour. After this, let the water drain. It is important to ensure that the substrate dries in about a week, otherwise the root system may begin to rot.

And such a method is quite widespread. Its advantage is that in this way many plants can be watered at once. The water temperature should not be too high or low. Watering with the help of a shower imitates tropical rain, which serves as the main source of moisture in the homeland of orchids - in the jungle. After this procedure, the aboveground part of the orchids should completely dry, so that the water does not stagnate at the growth point - if the orchid decays, it will most likely die.
Another popular way to water orchids at home is to use ice cubes. Once a week, 1-2 cubes are placed on the surface of the pot, which slowly melt. It is worth noting that there is a lot of controversy about this method in the environment of gardeners, since the method is rather ambiguous, and its consequence may be frostbite of the root system. That is why such experiments can only be carried out by more or less experienced flower growers.
General recommendations for watering phalaenopsis are as follows: it should not be too frequent, the roots should dry well and change color from green to silver-green. Phalaenopsis tolerates drought much better than the bay. Too frequent watering can result in decay and death of the plant, while rehabilitating it after a long drought is much easier.
