By the beginning of the 19th century, such a genre as science fiction had finally formed in art. Its distinctive feature is the presence in the work of any elements (phenomena, characters) whose existence is impossible in reality. Currently, science fiction is one of the most popular genres in literature and art in general.
This direction is very extensive and branches out into many subgenres: science fiction, humorous, horror literature, fantasy. There are also several classic tricks that science fiction writers use in their works. One of them is "cunning."
The so-called "fellow travelers" are characters who, by the will of circumstances, have fallen from their usual world into a completely different one - a parallel universe, another planet, future or past. More often the hero moves directly physically, but in some cases only his consciousness gets into another world, being in someone’s body.
Works about fellow travelers were created by many famous foreign writers. In Soviet science fiction, this technique was not used so often, but Ivan Bunshu and Ivan the Terrible from the well-known film “Ivan Vasilyevich Changes the Profession” can be called their bright representatives.
Cadastre in literature: The Chronicles of Narnia
One of the most popular literary works about fellow travelers is The Chronicles of Narnia by British writer Clive Staples Lewis. The series was created between 1950 and 1956.
“The Chronicles of Narnia” - a cycle of seven stories in the fantasy genre. There are four people here - these are Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensi. They were ordinary children who during the Second World War were evacuated to the house of Professor Kerk, who was outside of London.
In one of the rooms of this old house there was a seemingly ordinary wardrobe. However, Lucy - the youngest of the children - accidentally discovered that he has unusual properties.
The closet turned out to be a portal to Narnia - a magical world where magic is an everyday occurrence, and animals are able to talk humanly. In this country, the children of Pevency will have to go through many adventures, overcome various challenges and help the inhabitants of Narnia defeat the dark forces of evil.
"Eve of All Saints"
Another well-known novel dedicated to the theme of the fellow travelers is The Eve of All Saints, written by Ray Bradbury in 1972. As the name implies, the book takes place during Halloween, a holiday traditionally celebrated in the USA, Great Britain and other English-speaking countries.
The main characters are a few teenage boys who had to become part of a mystical story. Once, on October 31, they did not go to collect sweets, which children usually do on All Saints' Day, but found themselves next to an abandoned house in a terrible ravine.
The guys met a strange gentleman named Mr. Smerch, and from that moment their amazing adventure began.
"11/22/63"
This novel by Stephen King, released in November 2011, is rightfully among the best works of the author.
“11/22/63” is a story about a fellow traveler in the past. The protagonist is the 35-year-old Jacob Epping, who works as an English teacher. His daily routine consists of lessons and checking homework, but once in the life of Epping an event takes place that completely changes his life.
In June 2011, a friend of Jacob named Al Templeton, who owns a small diner, tells Epping shocking news. Templeton claims that in the basement of his diner is a portal to the past, or rather, at 11 hours 58 minutes on September 9, 1958.
Al also talks about how, with the help of this portal, he tried to prevent the assassination of US President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. But now, because of his illness, he is forced to entrust this mission to Jacob. Epping agrees and, having received false documents, is sent to 1958.

One of the most popular movies about fellow travelers is the Back to the Future trilogy, which tells about time travel.
The main characters are high school student Marty McFly and his neighbor, Dr. Emmett Brown, who is often referred to simply as Doc. After 30 years of trying, Doc finally invents the time machine. A key element needed to travel through time is plutonium.
Soon after the invention of the machine, Doc was attacked by terrorists who had long hunted him for personal reasons. Marty has to hide in the only possible way - to move in time. He gets in 1955 and suddenly comes out so that McFly interferes with the meeting of his own parents. Now Marty must fix everything as quickly as possible, because otherwise he will simply disappear.
"We are from the future"
“We Are From the Future” is a Russian-made film released in 2008. It intertwines two time periods: modernity and the 1940s.
The four main characters are excavating where battles of the Great Patriotic War used to be. At the place of bloody battles, strange phenomena begin to occur, and, trying to understand them, Bormann, Skull, Chuha and Alcohol move in 1942.
Jumanji
In 1995, the movie "Jumanji" was released in the United States, whose slogan read: "This game will make you believe in miracles." Unlike most movies about fellow travelers, this time it's not about time travel.
The picture begins in 1869. A certain backstory is shown to the viewer: two young people in a hurry dig in a chest, which clearly contains something dangerous, because strange sounds come from there.
After exactly a century, this chest is excavated by a boy named Alan. There is a certain board game "Jumanji", which looks quite harmless, but actually has mystical properties. The game lures Alan into his world. The hitan will be imprisoned there for 26 years until new players roll the Jumanji dice.
