Having received secondary education in one of the schools of the town, George Skrebitsky goes to the capital, where he enters the Faculty of Literature at the Institute of Living Word. After the young man mastered writing skills, the Higher Zootechnical Institute became the next step in training. Here George mastered the basics of hunting and animal husbandry.

After graduating from this institution, the young man goes to work in a research institute for animal husbandry and hunting. Then he was a researcher in a laboratory at Moscow State University, where he studied the psychology of various animals. This work allowed Skrebitsky to participate in various expedition trips, to explore the life of animals in freedom.

He was engaged in such observations for 5 years. In 1937, Georgy Alekseevich was awarded the title of candidate of biological sciences. For some time he headed the Department of Animal Physiology at Moscow State University. All this time he worked on several scientific works related to zoology and zoopsychology.

Singer of Russian nature

The older the scientist became, the more often he wanted to record all his hunting adventures on paper, as well as capture childhood memories of his first encounters with nature. So gradually, Georgy Alekseevich began to turn into a singer of his native nature. Many younger schoolchildren are familiar with the first work by Skrebitsky "Ushan" about a hare born in autumn. This led the author to write animal stories. He is also the author of two short stories. His books are known not only in Russia, but also in Poland, Bulgaria, Germany, Albania, Slovakia, Hungary, the Czech Republic.

In the 40s, George Skrebitsky worked closely with the famous animal writer Vera Chaplina. She helped him publish his work, and also prompted ideas for new stories. Together they wrote animal stories for the youngest readers and published in children's magazines.

Vivid features of the talent of the naturalist writer in creating scripts for filmstrips and cartoons were especially piercingly expressed. In all these works, the main characters were animals. The most memorable works are the filmstrip “Who's Winters,” “Who Spends Like Summer,” “About the Little Squirrel,” and “Little Bear”.

In 1949, George Skrebitsky visited Western Belarus. After that, he wrote many essays and collected them in the book "Belovezhskaya Pushcha". The writer did not finish his last story, it was completed by Vera Chaplin. Death overtook Georgy Alekseevich unexpectedly, in the summer of 1964 he had a heart attack and was taken to a hospital. An acute heart attack did not give a chance to Skrebitsky, he died on August 18 of that year.
