What is a fake?

What is a fake? This question can be heard today both from representatives of the young generation, and from grandmothers who want to better understand their grandchildren. The word came to us from the English language, where it has several meanings. In direct translation, "fake" means fake or forgery.

Fake - what does it mean? Imagine a picture: you come to a store where they sell expensive shoes of famous brands. You really liked the boots, but you understand that you can save the amount drawn on the price tag, at best only by the next winter. What are you doing? Head to the nearest market, where you will definitely find an exact copy of your favorite boots. Yes, it will not be Italian shoes (although sellers will convince you otherwise), but, for example, Turkish, but its price will be affordable for you. What is a fake? This is the pair of boots you bought in the market.

This word has found wide application in the Internet space. Today, almost all famous personalities, whether they are politicians, athletes or show business stars, create pages on social networks. And, of course, there are people who want to make money on a famous name or just to spoil it. The spammer registers with friends as a star, thus gaining access to personal data, photos, videos that are sneaking to create a parallel account. So a star clone appears. And this is a new meaning of the word fake. But very often the life of such clones is short-lived. This is due to the fact that well-known personalities quite often update information on their pages, replenishing them with new photos or videos, but it’s much more difficult for spammers to do this.

Fraudsters can work not only with stars. They find pretty girls, pay them for video shoots and photo shoots, while leaving all the footage they have at their disposal. Then, an account is created on social networks, which is updated and replenished for some time due to the footage. But as soon as the updates are over, the administration of social networks bans such clone accounts.

More experienced spammers act much more cunningly: they create several dozens, or even hundreds, of this cloned account. What is a fake? All these “relatives” will be registered as friends with the main clone (fake) and will also be fakes.

What are the goals of scammers? Well, first of all, money. Star accounts, like regular ones, are advertised. These pages are visited daily by thousands, millions of people. Imagine the number of visits to the page of V.V. Putin, for example. And how many men in their free time will want to stop by Anna Semenovich to appreciate her new naughty photos, to see her next clip? Or how many women would like to review Valery Meladze’s photos? And if there is advertising on these pages, then what is the likelihood that some of the visitors will click on the advertising link? Very great. Does a woman, having listened to a new romantic song by Meladze, not look at the page with exclusive lingerie, which is advertised by the account of her favorite artist? This means that the spammer task has been completed and visitors have been added to the necessary sites.

What is a fake and why do we fall for the scammer? Any social site can be subject to cloning. The appearance and menu of the fake are very similar to the real one. That is why when entering the fake we are not bothered by the standard registration procedure. We safely enter our username and password in the appropriate fields and from this moment we become clients of a special database of spammers. And they, having our personal data, begin sending spam to all our friends and acquaintances.
