If a person wants to acquire a certain type of firearm in order to protect himself, he will encounter some difficulties, since purchase and storage are possible only on the basis of a document issued by the competent authorities. It is a weapons permit that is guaranteed to provide its owner with rights that will allow them to take advantage at a certain moment.
Consider what constitutes a weapon of self-defense
If you look from a technical point of view, such a weapon is a collection of technical means that are used to protect the person himself. The main task of this tool is only to neutralize the attacker, and not to kill him. It is for this reason that this
type of weapon, which is used for self-defense, has a rather weak damaging effect.
We also note the fact that, according to the thirteenth article of the provision “On Weapons”, only citizens can buy and obtain permission for weapons in our country if they are over 18 years old. Also, the future owner must have a special license issued by the internal affairs bodies located at the place of residence.
It is worth recalling that a weapons permit is required only for those citizens who acquire its following types: signal, long-barreled and barrelless, gas revolvers or pistols.
What instances does a citizen need to go through and what documents should be executed in order to obtain permission
In order to get permission for a weapon, you should visit the following authorities:
- neuropsychiatric dispensary;
- Drug Dispensary;
- health commission;
- a bank branch to pay a state fee;
- the department at the Department of Internal Affairs, which deals with the issue of permits;
- local inspector at the place of residence.
As soon as all certificates are collected and the fee is paid, the applicant provides documents at the place of registration in the police department that will allow
obtaining permission for hunting weapons, as well as an arsenal for self-defense:
- handwritten statement, which is written in the prescribed form;
- the original, as well as a photocopy of your passport;
- two photographs measuring 3x4 centimeters;
- the established form of a medical statement, which would confirm that the applicant meets all standards and is suitable for owning weapons.
Standards to be observed when storing self-defense weapons
Having issued a permit, the owner must provide everything necessary for the legal storage of his arsenal. The purchased gun for self-defense, as well as other similar means of protection, must be kept in a place where unauthorized persons cannot penetrate. The best option is a safe, or otherwise a sturdy iron box. It should be noted that the safe and the drawer must be equipped with a special compartment for storing cartridges. Only if all these conditions are met, will a person be allowed to have a weapon at home that is intended for self-defense.
