Membrane jackets: advantages, disadvantages, features of care

Membrane jackets as a kind of winter clothing are truly indispensable. They are sewn from the appropriate fabric and are characterized by properties such as high heat resistance, lightness and water resistance. Products are good in that they allow your skin to breathe and sweat out, while not absorbing fluid. Thus, you will not get wet and sweat in them.

Types of fabric

Membrane jackets can be made of two-layer, three-layer and “two-and-a-half” -layer material. In the first case, the fabric is taken as the basis of the product, on which a special membrane is applied from the inside. A lining is used to protect against clogging and damage. The three-layer material consists of a “top”, a membrane and a knitted mesh: all layers are glued together using a special technique - lamination. The latter option is the most modern: the membrane fabric is coated with foamed protective coating from the inside - it is this that plays the role of the third layer. Jackets made of such a fabric are considered to be the lightest and most durable.

Benefits

women's membrane jackets
Membrane jackets have a number of advantages: firstly, they can be worn in any weather: wind, snow, rain - all this will be nothing to you. Secondly, they are suitable for all types of recreation - from calm to the most active. Slow walking, skiing and ice skating, running and even mountain climbing - this garment is multifunctional. Membrane jackets are very comfortable, windproof, lightweight. They take out all the fumes of the body, without creating the “greenhouse effect”, which happens, for example, when wearing raincoats.

disadvantages

Among the minuses can be called a fairly high price for such clothes. Do not forget that it requires special care: for example, it is strictly forbidden to machine wash. At the same time, products from membrane fabric are distinguished by relative fragility, and clothing for them needs to be selected special, ideally - thermal underwear and fleece.

Care Features

men's membrane jackets
Women's membrane jackets are usually sewn from bright and fairly easily soiled fabrics. However, do not think that you can just put a thing in the washing machine and fill it with powder. Detergents of this kind can clog the membrane structure and the jacket will lose all of its properties. The same applies to the use of air conditioners and bleaches. Carefully ensure that the powder does not contain chlorine: in this case, the membranes will begin to get wet. What to do? There are DWR sprays designed specifically for cleaning such jackets. Another option is hand wash using liquid soap or shampoo. Membrane clothing should not be soaked and wringed; water temperature should not exceed 30-40 degrees. To remove excess moisture, it is recommended to use a towel or any other absorbent cloth. Membrane jackets for men and women are dried in a straightened form, laying on the floor or on the table. Ironing products is also not recommended: high temperature has a negative effect on the structure of the fabric. The material must be periodically soaked with special aerosols. The color of the thing may undergo minor changes.
