Why you need to know the size of the chipboard

chipboard dimensions 16 mm
For the mass production of cabinet furniture, the main material has recently become chipboard panels, which are worthy of competition for wood in terms of quality. This structural material is easy to process, perfectly holds any fasteners, has a lot of options for exterior decoration. Therefore, when cutting furniture, it is important to get as few scraps as possible, and it does not play a role, individually they do this or in production. The most important parameter in this case becomes the standard size of the chipboard sheet. Knowing the necessary parameters, you can significantly save on materials.

Particleboard size from different manufacturers

The strength of the material and its weight depend on the thickness and density of the sheet, but these important criteria nevertheless fade into the background compared to its size.

The standard size is considered to be chipboard, which is adhered to by the largest manufacturers of plates, occupying first positions in the markets of the CIS countries. Among them are brands of European manufacturers: Kronospan (produced by the Czech Republic and Slovakia), Interspan (Hungary), DDL (Czech Republic), Kaindl (Slovakian Buchina Combine DDD), Kastamonu (Romania), Egger (Austria), and domestic Swisspan , KronospanUA, Krono-Ukraine, Lessnab, Russian Laminate and about four dozen Russian companies that produce more than 100 thousand cubic meters of products per year. For instance:

  • chipboard size
Kastamonu plate is produced in the size of 2.8 x 2.1 m in all major thicknesses - 10, 16, 18 and 25 mm.
  • Kronostar has two standard sizes: 2.8 x 2.10 and 2.5 x 1.85 m (16, 18, 22 mm).
  • Kronospan (Russia) produces the same chipboard size, but has a wider range of thicknesses - 8, 10, 12, 16, 18, 22, 25, 28 mm.
  • With the same sheet width of 1.83 m, SwissPan has two lengths - standard 2.75 m and shortened 1.83 m.
  • Egger has its own vision of the standard - it is a sheet of 2.8 x 2.07 m, the thickness of which varies from 10 to 38 mm, and this is the only company that produces sheets with a thickness of 19 mm.
  • KronospanUA, Krono-Ukraine offer three sheet sizes: 2.75 x 1.83; 2.80 x 2.07 and 3.5 x 1.75. In this case, the area of the sheets changes significantly: 5.032, 5.796 and 6.125 m 2 (respectively).

Chipboard Scope

standard chipboard size

Particleboard is most widely used in furniture production and in construction. So, unfinished boards are used for the manufacture of wall panels, door leafs, floor and ceiling cladding, the construction of partitions, panels and roof lining , formwork devices. Since chipboard is much cheaper than solid wood or MDF, it becomes possible to save on costs when carrying out finishing or construction work, without reducing their quality or reliability.

Laminated, veneered chipboard is in demand in the production of furniture, so a wide range of economy-class furniture with an optimal price-quality ratio has appeared.

For example, chipboard dimensions of 16 mm are the best options for the production of cabinet furniture or upholstered furniture frames. Often this size is used in construction for the installation of floors and partitions, as well as frame elements of the interior.
