Modular Origami: Peacock Patterns. Origami for beginners

Peacock is a royal bird. Among his relatives, he stands out with an indescribable beauty by his tail. Can a peacock be made in origami style? How to assemble modular origami? Are peacock patterns complicated for a beginner? We will answer all questions in order.

Where to start learning?

Making origami from small modules is painstaking work, but it is very interesting. If a person takes up origami for the first time, you need to master a few basic elementary crafts. Origami for beginners is a modular tree or vase. It is also quite simple to do such a craft as a paper minion, which children will certainly enjoy.

These crafts are made from triangular modules (elements). And before embarking on even simple schemes, you need to learn how to make these modules. Here is a diagram explaining the manufacture of modules.

Origami for beginners

The arrows in the diagram show the direction of the bends. A large twisted arrow means that you need to turn the sheet over the other side.

The modules look like small triangles and are done in literally one minute. But for crafts of a peacock they need to be prepared a lot.

Crafts for beginners

But what about collecting a colorful big peacock? Be sure to try to make a modular origami, the scheme of the peacock will turn out to be voluminous and complex. But such difficulties will only “fuel” interest in the development of a new business.

But you can choose an interesting and at the same time not too complicated scheme, such as this option.

peacock modular origami diagram

At the bottom is a stand made of circles, the assembled base is glued to it. It is enough to lay 18 or 20 modules in the first circle. The main part is the body. It develops according to the same rules as other origami for beginners. That is, the modules are mounted in rows. It is better not to use colored elements during the first assembly, but first to deal with the circuit. A model is made of fairly large parts. And their number is not too large.

How to make a tail? New rows are gradually attached to one part of the base, with each row increasing first by one part, then by two. To do this, you need to “hide” two elements of the previous row under one element of the next. At first it will not be easy to do so. Need to get used to. And the peacock's neck is just a long chain of single monophonic modules. The beak and eyes on the sides can be glued separately if desired.

Little peacock outline

A more luxurious peacock made of paper takes a long time. It is especially difficult to make a peacock's tail if a person has not previously made such figures.

There are no difficulties with the base - this is a diagram of an ordinary bowl, where the elements are alternately stacked. The basis should be 25 units. Then begins the drawing, which will be on the breast. This part of the craft gradually rises and tapers toward the center. Then the last two details are combined by one and a long curved neck is formed.

The tail is made of individual feathers, which are attached to the back of the "basket".

Arrows gather like this:

  • 4 elements on top of each other - make a “column” to the base;
  • 3 elements of the same color are attached to this column;
  • 4 elements are already 2 colors;
  • 5 modules - 3 colors;
  • then 6 modules;
  • again 5 modules of 3 colors;
  • 4 out of 2 colors;
  • and so on to 1.

Collect three of these consecutive elements that make up one feather. Color shapes may be different. Experiment. Upon completion of all the work you will get an amazing and proud peacock out of paper.

Advanced circuit

To paper peacock was like real, you have to try. There are models in which the peacock is assembled in separate parts.

Separately, legs, tail, feathers are lined up. And such arrows, the scheme of which we have explained, can be made both 6 and 8, if there is enough space on the back of the peacock. There are other arrow assemblies. For example, sometimes arches are made of 7 one-color elements: 3 on the one hand, and 3 on the other, and 7 element - the top. From below they are supported by the same 3 elements. Inside, one element of another shade is glued with the back side. Use superglue for this. Then these parts are attached directly to the column of 5-6 parts.

Such crafts are already done by professionals who have extensive experience in assembling various models of peacocks.

The neck of the peacock origami here is shorter and wider. In the row are not 2 modules, but 4. The legs consist of rows of 1 module.

Assembly diagram

You can train further and try to make an alternative modular origami. Peacock schemes are extremely interesting to collect, and there are a large number of them.

Peacock with arched tail

There is another amazing assembly scheme of a peacock with a bewitching huge tail in the form of arches with feathers. The assembly of such a peacock already implies the possession of more complex "techniques" and elements. Modules need to be combined in some places; in others, skip elements to make an arch.

The body of a peacock is best made in the form of a barrel so that it is more stable. The neck and head gather like other peacocks. Beak and bangs can be invented and made in your own way.

But the tail is going here according to an exceptionally complex pattern. This tail alone consists of 17 rows in which 430 elements.

The first row is tucked in a semicircle. No glue needed. Just add one row after another, as shown in the diagram. Gradually, the semicircle increases, the wedging of the color modules begins. Where indicated, you need to fit the two previous ones into one module. This is shown in the diagram by wide triangles with large angles.

Now let’s demonstrate how to assemble a peacock when using a graphic assembly diagram. It contains all the necessary numbers: all elements in rows, in strict order. The arrows in the diagram indicate the union of the elements.

There are several nuances in the assembly of the circuit:

  1. You can not take thick paper, performing such a modular origami. Peacock schemes are designed to ensure that all paper modules are very flexible to be interconnected.
  2. If you want to make the object smaller, use smaller modules. But do not reduce the number of elements. Everything has already been calculated in the scheme.
  3. The neck and chic tail are separately attached to the base. A large tail can be planted on transparent glue.

Nevertheless, for a beginner it is better not to take complex schemes, where there are almost 1 thousand elements. It is advisable to look for schemes and videos that show assemblies of simple models, on which it is more convenient to learn how to quickly assemble elements. Indeed, modular origami: schemes of a peacock, parrot, swan, and others train fine motor skills of hands, which develops synaptic connections.
