By the 16th century, it had grown to the size of a small city, where merchants and craftsmen mainly lived and worked, and its port carried out trade with the countries of Europe and Asia. At the moment, Shanghai is the largest city in China in all respects, it is the country's industrial and financial center, and its international port is the largest in the world. The
most important historical events of the last hundred years are connected with this city, the Shanghai walls still remember the
Taiping uprising of the 1950s and the first congress of the Chinese Communist Party.
