In December 2015, finally, an event occurred that all residents of St. Petersburg were looking forward to - after many months of major repairs and reconstructions, the delightful opening of the Ciniselli Circus took place. This place has always been popular among the townspeople, and now that the building has received its new decoration and an updated program with the participation of circus legends, tickets at the box office began to be bought up at lightning speed.
History of creation
The Ciniselli Circus was opened in 1877 on the initiative of an Italian citizen and a member of the dynasty of artists. The building is the embodiment of the unique technical design of engineers. For the first time in world practice, the columns supporting it were not used in the construction of the dome, which creates an amazing spatial effect.
The auditorium was decorated with special luxury and chic, it is designed for five thousand people. Ciniselli Circus immediately became a favorite place for visiting all segments of the population of St. Petersburg, so it soon became the main attraction of the city.
After the revolution, the building passed into the possession of the new government and underwent many alterations. In the thirties of the twentieth century in the territory of the circus, it was decided to open a workshop preparing new numbers. At that time, the director was Kuznetsov, according to his scripts, a large number of pantomimes were delivered. In addition, stars of European magnitude performed here.
During the Great Patriotic War, the Ciniselli circus was closed and only in 1945 began to receive its first spectators.

Grand return after reconstruction
A few years ago, the circus leadership was visited by the idea to restore the building to its former appearance. Therefore, a complete restoration was carried out, lasting a year and a half. After its graduation last year, the magnificent and long-awaited opening of the Ciniselli Circus took place. Everyone had been waiting for him for so long that it was decided to arrange two whole grandiose holidays, so that the performances devoted to such an amazing event took place on December 15 and 18.
The audience enjoyed unsurpassed performances performed by the Royal Circus troupe, performing under the direction of the talented Georgian artist Gia Eradze. They saw flying on chandeliers, trained pigeons and horses, a balancer on the piano, performing with hula-hoops in a

Revival of old traditions
The program dedicated to the opening of the circus included a unique number entitled "On Elephants Around the World" performed by the heirs of the oldest dynasty of Russian trainers Kornilovs. Also, the world-famous attraction "Russian Fun" with exciting tricks of acrobats pleased and delighted the whole audience.

Museum
In 1928, the first of its kind institution was opened at the circus building, where interesting exhibits were dedicated to the figures and performances of the Ciniselli troupe. Museum funds have always been created only with the help of artists who donate their photographs, programs, outfits and various posters there. At present, there are about ninety thousand items of storage.
