Sphinx: a cat for the soul

Tell me, what emotions do you feel when you see the sphinx? No, not that stone keeper of the Egyptian pyramids, but a cat of this breed. Surely, the first reaction at the sight of this extraordinary creation is a smile from ear to ear, because it is hard to imagine a more funny and strange cat. It seems that this creature came to us from another galaxy. Who knows? Perhaps this is so, because the sphinx - a cat is really unusual. Similar to a faience figurine, she is extremely smart, charming, playful and insightful. Its exotic appearance and lack of hair create a sense of defenselessness of the animal. I immediately want to touch it, take it on my hands and ... leave it for myself.

But, before you take this space creature into your home, it would be nice to get a little familiar with how to properly care for this breed and decide whether you are ready to mentally and financially β€œpull” it. Despite the fact that caring for the sphinxes is quite simple, you will need to periodically monitor its health and, of course, feed a lot and deliciously. When purchasing a kitten of this breed, be sure to make sure that he has all the necessary vaccinations. Decent breeders, as an attachment to the kitten, should give you detailed recommendations on its contents, as well as a veterinary passport and metric. But the metric (it is also a pedigree and a cat card) is issued only if you purchase an animal from the pedigree. If it doesn't matter to you whether the parents of your bald baby are titled, then you can do without a metric. You should also be given the tray that the cat used before you purchased it, a jar of filler and a small amount of feed.

You should also know that the sphynx is a very gluttonous cat. But this is offset by the fact that she is unpretentious in food and eats almost everything that will be given to her. This is due to the increased temperature of her body - it is higher than that of an ordinary cat by 0.5-1 degrees. That is why, in order to maintain her high energy exchange, she has to eat a lot. But this does not mean that it needs to be fed around the clock and with anything. It is advisable to combine natural products that you eat yourself with cat food: today one thing, and tomorrow another. Food, preferably dry and high quality, such as Royal Canin, otherwise spend more on treating your pet. There should also always be a bowl of clean water.

Direct care of the sphinx involves brushing your ears and teeth, washing your eyes, cutting your nails, and rubbing your tail. The ears should be cleaned very carefully and do not push the cotton bud too deep, otherwise the animal may be injured. Teeth and gums are gently brushed with a toothbrush (a nursery is suitable). Rinse eyes with tea leaves or chamomile broth. Claws need to be trimmed with special nippers, but not with scissors. As for the tail, it must be regularly wiped from the outside with a degreasing but not alcohol-containing agent.

Sphinx is a cat with very delicate skin, so you need to take care of it almost the same as the skin of a child. By the way, children's hygiene products are quite suitable. In addition, these cats sweat, so always have wet wipes that are free of alcohol or a special soft sponge, which can be used to wipe the cat’s body, as needed. Of course, the sponge should be wet. It is also not forbidden to bathe the sphinxes, but they must be trained in this procedure from young claws, and then, most likely, they themselves will ask for a bath. Wash your cat with either a special professional shampoo or a quality baby shampoo . Be sure to wipe it after bathing, or even better, dab it with paper towels.

And the sphinx is a cat that can sunbathe. Yes, these sky-high creatures are very fond of the sun and warmth, and from the periodic sunbathing, their color may change (almost like in humans). But just like people, the Sphinxes are inadmissible excessive exposure to the sun. Also, do not allow the cat to stay in the draft and next to open windows (especially in winter). Buy her a pretty cat house, where she can hide, and a scratching post. But if at night she begins to ask you to bed - do not refuse her this, put her under the covers. Sphinxes simply cannot sleep alone, they definitely need to snuggle up to you with all their hot "suede" bodies and lull to their purrs.
