Lermontov, "Demon": a summary and analysis of the work

One of the geniuses who glorified Russian poetry is rightfully Mikhail Lermontov. “Demon”, the summary of which even a schoolboy must know, is considered the best work of the poet. But he began to write this poem when he was only 15 years old! It is amazing how at such a young age you could know so much about love and fiery passion. But most importantly, with what skill the young writer reveals these feelings to us, readers. This could only be achieved by real, unsurpassed talent.

Lermontov demon summary

From the very first lines it becomes clear why Lermontov so called his poem - "Demon". A brief summary of it can also present this work as a real hymn to all-consuming love, which even infernal creatures are subject to. In the end, we are filled with sympathy for this fallen angel. But the story begins with the fact that we see Lucifer flying above the earth. The peak of Kazbek swims beneath it with a diamond face, and now the green valleys of Georgia flash under the wing. But the Demon does not experience anything but boredom and longing. Even evil bored him.

However, his spleen dissipates when he notices somewhere below joyful swarming. This is getting ready for the wedding: Gudal, the local prince, gives his only daughter in marriage. According to the old Georgian tradition, the bride, in anticipation of the bridegroom, must dance on the roof of a house covered with carpets. This involuntary allusion with the dance of the biblical Salome specifically causes readers of Lermontov. The demon - the summary of the poem nevertheless gives us the opportunity to convey some nuances - breaks out of the captivity of indifference. After all, if the Hebrew princess asked for the head of the Forerunner for her dance, then Princess Tamara aroused the passion of the fallen angel with her light movements.

Demon Lermontov summary

Fallen in love with “Son of the ether” for lack of best ideas, he decided to remove from the stage the groom, hurrying to the bride’s house with wedding gifts. At the instigation of the Demon, the caravan is attacked by abreks - robbers who kill the young prince. A faithful horse brings the body to the courtyard of Gudal, crying and moaning replace songs and cheerful music. Tamara, in her room, weeps for her narrowed, as she hears a voice. He promises to console her. But who says these words? Around nobody! But not for long keeps us in the ignorance of Lermontov. The demon (a brief summary, or rather, his retelling does not give us the opportunity to convey this poetically) rushes to the beloved. On the very first night, the princess sees a dream: a young man, beautiful as an angel, descends to her head. However, a halo does not shine around his head, and Tamara realizes that this is a "crafty spirit."

She asks her father to send her to the monastery, under the protection of the holy walls. Gudal pokes - after all, Tamara’s hands are seeking new profitable suitors, but in the end they give up. However, visions still do not leave the princess in the monastery: through church singing and incense clubs, she sees the same look, piercing like a dagger’s blade. Tamara passionately resists her love, tries to earnestly pray, but passion overcomes the strength of her heart. Realizing that he is in love, the novice surrenders. However, realizing that for a moment of closeness with him an earthly girl will pay with her life, a fallen angel is slow, even though he is a Demon. Lermontov, the summary of the poem of which we are retelling here, is not a failure

Summary Demon Lermontov
He speaks to his hero in positive ways.

Human compassion and tenderness suddenly embrace the son of perdition: he is even ready to abandon his original plan to seduce Tamara in order to save her life. But late - passion swept over him. He simply can’t leave. One night he appears in the cell of a young hermit already in the form of a material man, made of flesh and blood. But the guardian angel blocks the path to Tamara’s box. The demon with contempt explains to him that the land is his possession, and the cherubim are not entitled to dispose here. He confesses love to Tamara, and she, touched by pity, reciprocates him. But the first kiss kills her. While Gudal is burying his daughter in a mountain mausoleum, the reader will find out the fate of Tamara after death. She has reached paradise, but for her lover all the paths to Salvation are already closed. But this is only a brief summary. “Demon” - Lermontov loved this poem very much - will always remain a mystery to us.
