Curiously, if people had not learned to express their thoughts in writing, then there would have been no books! In turn, without textbooks already written, children will not be able to learn writing! In the end, if we had not learned to write, then this article would not have been destined to be born! Let's talk about what absolutely everyone needs to know, namely, writing. About its occurrence and benefits to humans.
Why is this necessary?The emergence of writing is one of the most important moments in the culture of all mankind. After all, we are surrounded by inscriptions everywhere. Imagine that they suddenly disappear ... How will we continue to live - write love letters, communicate on social networks and, in the end, sign important documents? In addition, we will not find out which route our bus follows, what is sold on the shelves of a particular store, what picture is now being shown at the cinema, how to take medicine correctly, and yet all modern people need to know this ...
How did writing come about?
Once upon a time people were illiterate - they could neither read nor write. However, this does not mean their stupidity. At the dawn of human life, their knowledge of the world was so insignificant that they simply did not require any written fixation. After all, what everyone absolutely needs to know at that time, for example, the history of their family, customs and legends, the art of hunting, was fully within the memory of an ancient person. But time passed inexorably forward, and human knowledge expanded more and more. And so, when all the knowledge could not fit in the head of one person, writing arose!
Pictograms
This is the oldest type of writing. Pictograms are something that absolutely all living people who want to be culturally enlightened need to know. Of course, this is not quite an inscription, but not just pictures! Ancient people "talked" about their customs, feats and life, drawing us "messages from the past" on the walls of their homes, for example, in a cave. Over time, the icons turned into hieroglyphs.
Modern pictograms
Do you think any picturesque messages are used today? Of course! And the most famous of them are pictograms of what absolutely all people who drive a particular vehicle need to know. Guessed? That's right, these are road signs (for example, "main road" or "speed limit" and so on). In addition, we can see pictograms at airports, office facilities and so on, because they also help us navigate where inscriptions are impossible or made in a foreign language. For example, at the airport of any country, we can understand where the exit or toilet is located.

According to scientists, some time after the appearance of pictograms and hieroglyphs, a period came when people could already know about everything that was somehow connected with the transfer of information (drawings, gestures, the logical connection between several hieroglyphs), which means to convey the whole picture what is happening in a new, hitherto unknown way. It was then, according to historians, that man came up with the first letters.
