It so happened that the wooden floors in the house are often painted with paint. This decoration method is still encountered. Only the quality of the paints that are used for this has changed. Today, one of the options for such tools is the PF-266 enamel. The surface treated by it becomes smooth and has a pleasant sheen. The coating itself is characterized by wear resistance, resistance to mechanical stress and high adhesion to the base.
Features and Specifications
Enamel PF-266 (GOST 6465-76) is made on the basis of alkyd varnish. It combines with a solvent, fillers and pigments. Speaking from the point of view of chemistry, enamel is nothing but a suspension of pigments and additives in pentaphthalic varnish. Desiccants, modifying additives and solvents are added to it. Thanks to various additives, protective and decorative properties are provided.
The tool differs in meager colors. This significantly narrows the scope of use. The paint consumption is from 150 to 180 grams per layer on an area of ââ1 m 2 . Depends on the color of enamel.
The surface after applying the enamel becomes smooth and uniform, without inclusions. And she also shines. The gloss of the film is at least 50-57%.
Technical characteristics of the PF-266 enamel are as follows:
- Viscosity at 20 degrees is in the range from 70 to 100.
- The degree of periter is not more than 40%.
- An dry layer of enamel covers the base at the rate of 80 g / m 2 .
- At 20 degrees, the drying time reaches 24 hours.
- The strength of the film, even during impacts, is 30 cm.
- Abrasion resistance reaches 0.25 kg / Ξm.
- When bending, the elasticity is 1 mm.
- The adhesion of the composition with the base materials is determined at 1 point.
These are the main characteristics of the PF-266 enamel. The resulting coating is smooth, shiny. It is moisture resistant, resistant to mechanical damage and abrasion. Withstands temperature changes ranging from minus 40 to plus 60 degrees.
Appointment of the composition
Intended for painting surfaces of metal or wood. It is used in domestic and industrial premises. An important point is that the composition is approved for use only inside buildings. For outdoor work, it is not suitable.
Enamel PF-266 is suitable for coloring a pre-prepared floor surface. Moreover, the base can be previously painted and unpainted. Most often, the composition is used in those rooms where people are periodically, and not constantly. In such situations, the paint is a protective compound for the floor, and not its finish. That is why enamel is most often packed in metal cans of large volumes (30 or 50 liters). Private individuals use this tool extremely rarely. Usually it is acquired by construction organizations that repair public premises (dormitories, locker rooms, and so on).
Preparation of enamel for application
The use of enamel is permissible only after preparatory work. It is necessary to pre-prepare both the paint itself and the surface to be treated.
Preparation of enamel PF-266 for use consists in the following activities:
- Open the cover and remove the film that forms on the surface of the composition.
- Stir enamel thoroughly. To do this, you can use a drill with a special nozzle. The composition should be homogeneous.
- If necessary, dilute the enamel with a solvent. White spirit, turpentine, or PC-2 solvent can be used as the latter. Permissible to add no more than 10% solvent.
- After mixing, the composition must be filtered. To do this, use regular gauze.
This completes the preparation of enamel, the composition is ready for use.
Surface preparation for processing
The base, which is planned to be painted with PF-266 enamel, must be prepared in advance. The surface must be clean. It is washed first with a detergent to remove all kinds of contaminants. After that, the floor is washed with clean water.
Next, the entire surface must be sanded. Then the dust is removed. The floor is washed with water and dried. Only after carrying out all these stages of work the floor is considered ready for application of enamel.
Enamel application
After preliminary preparation of the PF-266 enamel and the treated surface, you can start painting. To apply the composition, use a paint brush or roller with a medium pile. It can be applied by spraying. Staining is carried out in two layers. To form a more reliable coating, 3 layers can be applied. To dry the enamel, applied in 2 layers, it takes about 24 hours.
In order to comply with safety precautions when working with enamel, it is necessary to use PPE: respirators, gloves. After painting work is completed, the room must be ventilated to avoid toxic poisoning. In addition, it is necessary to remember the flammability of the composition. Therefore, direct contact with fire must be avoided.
