Many beginning summer residents have a question about whether raspberries should be transplanted. And most importantly, when is it necessary to do this? There are many opinions, but most summer residents still insist that the best option is a raspberry transplant in the fall. The best time is the second half of September. Developed strong shoots are used as planting material. Before planting, the apex of 15-20 cm is cut off from them. The planted stems are necessarily tied to the trellis.
Both spring and autumn raspberry transplant should be accompanied by mulching. It is produced 3-4 days after the plant is transferred to a new place. Mulch, as a rule, with peat or straw. This must be done in order to prevent the riotous growth of weeds and at the same time to maintain the moisture necessary for seedlings that have not yet matured. If the weather is hot outside, then the plant needs additional watering. If you carefully follow all these rules, raspberry shrubs will have time to take root well before the onset of the first frosts and give shoots of young shoots.
Transplanting raspberries in the fall can be done in yet another way. After harvesting the main crop, all old branches are cut to the root. Only young shoots are preserved. All shoots are also removed. This is done so that it does not draw out all the useful substances and does not eat from common roots. Then, young shoots are carefully transferred to a new place and neatly attached to the trellis. Further care will consist only in loosening, watering and fertilizing. But it is necessary to ensure that a large amount of moisture does not accumulate in the soil. This can lead to plant disease.
It can also be argued that transplanting raspberry bushes is impractical. It is still better to take as a planting material young plants that have not yet yielded crops. They adapt and take root faster. Do not forget about mulching. Planted raspberries take root much faster if its holes are sprinkled with straw or peat on top. Saplings in spring will give fresh foliage, and in summer tasty large berries will appear on the branches.

A raspberry transplant in autumn is necessary to maintain a high yield of the bush, to preserve the taste and size of the berries themselves. It has long been noticed that after several seasons the plant loses its previous yield, the fruits are smaller. This can be explained by the fact that gradually all nutrients are selected from the soil and, in addition, all kinds of fungi appear - pathogens. It is best to grow raspberries in one place for no more than 4-5 years. After that, it is transferred to a new place. Before planting, dig up the soil well to reduce the number of weeds. Mineral and organic substances (ash, manure) are added to the prepared wells. In the fall, raspberries should be transplanted to places where potatoes, onions or tomato beds were grown before. Seedlings are placed along the trench, the distance between the planting pits should be at least one meter. Then, 10 kg are added to the soil (per well). humus, 80 gr. ash substances and 40-50 gr. ammophos. This will provide the bushes with good nutrition for several years, which is enough to give an abundant crop of large sweet berries.
