Among the leading paint coatings intended for the construction industry, the most popular is paint with the marking PF-115. The popularity of this product is due to the development and implementation of high-quality mixtures in its production. They have improved performance characteristics, contribute to greater enamel resistance to abrasion and moisture, extend the life of the coating.
Purpose and labeling
Enamel marked PF-115 is a universal coating designed for exterior and interior decoration of wooden or metal surfaces. It can be used as an independent coating or in combination with various types of primers. The coating is based on pentaphthalic varnish.
According to the generally established rules, all finished paints and varnishes have a symbol or marking. Due to this, the consumer can independently determine the composition, purpose, scope of the product. PF-115 paint marking consists of five elements. The first is the type of material - enamel. The second is the abbreviation PF, denoting the name of the binder components of the composition - pentaphthals (alkyd resins). Digital indices represent the color scheme.
Components and Features
The high-quality raw materials used in the manufacture of products provide the PF-115 enamel with characteristics that allow it to be used to finish surfaces of various types. The composition of this coating includes a finely dispersed suspension of pigments, various desiccants and fillers. To quickly dry the painted surface, linoleates are added to the enamel, consisting of metals such as cerussite, pyrolusite, cobalt. So that the paint does not exfoliate and a film does not form on it, additives with emulsifying properties are included in the composition.
All of the above components determine the PF-115 technical specifications that contribute to viscosity, water resistance, resistance to atmospheric phenomena, various industrial oils, fading, temperature extremes (from -50 to +60 ยบ).
Manufactured products are tested in the laboratories of the enterprise. Therefore, the enamel PF-115 technical specifications comply with GOST. They provide:
- film gloss - not less than 50%;
- the amount of non-volatile substances is 49-70%;
- at a temperature of 20 ยฐ drying time - a day;
- impact resistance - not less than 40 cm;
- film adhesion is not more than 1 point;
- when bending, the elasticity of the film is not more than 1 mm;
- viscosity 60-120;
- the exposure time of substances in hours at a temperature of 20 ยฐ C: water - 2, oil - 24, detergents - 15.
Due to the fact that it contains pentaflelic varnish PF-115, the technical characteristics are highly toxic and fire hazard. In this regard, when performing finishing work, fire safety rules and precautions must be observed.
Application
Pentaphthal paints finish wood, metals, internal and external surfaces of various buildings. The manufacturer presents a diverse color palette of enamels intended for finishing works: white (having two degrees of whiteness), black, blue, red, gray, beige. Original colors look like blue spruce, red lilac, emerald, honey, lemon and other colors with a glossy or matte film. Prices for PF-115, which is produced according to the RAL catalog, are higher than for standard colors according to GOST.
The PF-115 lacquer is widely used, the technical characteristics of which contribute to the increased strength of the surface layer and its resistance to abrasion. Thanks to the components available in its composition, it is used for finishing not only wooden and metal, but also concrete, brick structures. Indoors, windows, doors, radiators and heating pipes are painted. In the construction industry, enamel is used as a coating for plinths and facades of residential buildings and other buildings.
Surface preparation
PF-115 paint, its technical characteristics, or rather, require proper preparation of the painted surface. Preliminary preparatory work should be done.
- The surface is cleaned of the old fragile coating, dust, dirt, and degreased.
- Wooden structures are processed with sandpaper, and sanded if necessary.
- Wood surfaces are treated with drying oil.
- Metal structures are first cleaned of corrosion and then degreased. Then they are primed using these types of primers: GF-0119, GF-02, GF-023. Grease from the surface can be washed with washing powder, soap and water or soda solution (1 tbsp.spoon of soda per 1 liter of water). Cretaceous or calcareous coatings are cleaned until they are completely removed.
Enamel preparation
The paint should be thoroughly mixed before use. If necessary, you can dilute it with a solvent. For this, solvent, white spirit, turpentine are used. For electrostatic spray painting, a diluent RE4V or RE3V is used.
Application Methods and Material Consumption
The versatility of PF-115 (its technical characteristics are quite high) facilitates application to the surface to be treated at an ambient temperature of +5 to + 35ยบ C with such methods: brush, pneumatic spraying, brush, roller, dipping. Painting of metal structures is carried out after drying the primer in 2 layers of enamel.
On wooden, brick, concrete surfaces, as well as on plaster or old coatings, paint is applied in two or three layers. The thickness of one of them is 18-23 microns, depending on the surface structure and color of the composition. It has such PF-115 technical characteristics: material consumption is 100-180 grams per 1 m 2 of the painted area in one layer.
Interlayer drying at a temperature of 20ยบ lasts 24 hours. Within one hour, they allow drying of the coating on which the PF-115 paint is applied, technical characteristics. The temperature for this should be 100-110ยบ. After drying, a glossy, smooth, uniform surface is formed, without delamination and smudges.
Enamel film is resistant to abrasion, perfectly protects the surface, gives it a beautiful aesthetic appearance. Its operational and decorative properties indoors remain for 5 years. The service life of the outer coating in temperate and cold climates is about 4 years, and in tropical - 1 year. Enamel is combined with almost all coatings.
Precautionary measures
Enamel finishing work is carried out only with the use of personal protective equipment. If paint gets on your skin, wash it off with running warm water and soap. Ventilation must be good. Performing work, should be located far from open sources of fire.
Storage and packaging
Enamel should be stored in a well-closed container at temperatures from -40ยบ C to + 40ยบ C in places not accessible to children. Shelf life is 12 months from the date of issue.
Manufacturers produce PF-115 in industrial containers and cans. It is supplied to the distribution network in large packaging (barrels, drums) and in small packages of 800 g, 1000 g, 2300 g, 2800 g.
