Since 2005, in the south-east of Moscow, a small park has been established on the site of the industrial zone, which for ten years of its existence has been ennobled and turned from a small wild square on the river bank into one of the favorite vacation spots of the Pechatniki residents.
Description of the park
The Pechatniki park is located on the territory of the former industrial zone. At this place there is a large massif of floodplain of the Moscow River. This area is partially flooded due to artificial expansion. This area is quite green, but the residents of houses along the river still lacked a cozy, well-equipped garden. Therefore, it was decided here to equip a fairly wide promenade along the river and set up a small cozy park next to it.
In the center is the Pechatniki marina, where river buses come along the Moscow River. In the park there are several children's playgrounds, there is a stage for artists to perform. During city holidays, one can watch concerts of pop stars here.
For outdoor enthusiasts, Pechatniki Park offers a sports complex and a velodrome. Newlyweds visit this place and take memorable photos on the background of the majestic Moscow River and next to the flowerbed, made in the form of two wedding rings.
The park has pedestrian paths, flower beds and children's playgrounds. In the center of the park is the Pechatniki marina, you can come here by river tram. And there are also children's playgrounds. Also in this park there is a flowerbed in the form of two wedding rings, a velodrome and a sports complex.
How was the Pechatniki park (Moscow) built?
In the spring, namely, on Victory Day, in 2005, in the Pechatniki district on Guryanova Street, on the very embankment of the Moskva River , the 60 Years of Victory Square was defeated. He was visited by local residents, but there was no proper arrangement there. The embankment was more like a continuation of the industrial zone, rather than a cozy square. Trash floated everywhere in the river. On the embankment, as in a wasteland, there was no lighting, no benches, let alone plants and flower beds. Therefore, local residents for several years demanded that the district authorities properly equip the square for them.
Finally, in 2012, Pechatnik activists collected the signatures of Muscovites to the district deputy with a request for improvement. The officials agreed, allocated funding, and in 2013, work finally began. The case dragged on for a long time, until the end of 2015 and later. Local residents have to endure construction debris and dirt on the waterfront from time to time.
At the entrance to the park for several years hung a sign with an apology for "temporary inconvenience." Local residents were dissatisfied with the quality of the work, for example, shops that reminded someone of coffins. Shops were replaced, like so much more, at the request of people. Nevertheless, despite all the shortcomings and discontent, work (although sometimes slowly), but is underway, and in place of the former industrial zone and the dirty embankment a decent cozy park is now broken. It's nice to walk in the evening, admiring the sunset. And it's just great to sit on clean lawns along the promenade.
The authorities really tried to equip the Pechatniki park. Photos of what was and what has become speak for themselves.
Park Name History
In 2015, in November, an online survey was conducted to suggest their name or choose between the proposed ones. The options were as follows:
- Park "Pechatniki". The address of the place speaks for itself. In the district of the same name, it was easiest to name the recreation area that way.
- Park named after the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This name was proposed due to the fact that the square on Guryanova Street, namely, that was the original image of the park, was broken in honor of the 60th anniversary of the above event. However, this name was not destined to take root. The work was not completed on time, and in 2015, just on the anniversary of the Great Victory, the park was still a sad sight.
- Tallinn park. This version of the name was proposed in connection with the anniversary of the friendship of Russia and Estonia. In 2013, a cooperation agreement was signed between Moscow and Tallinn. It was planned to set up a European corner in the capital of Russia, reminiscent of Estonia. In Tallinn, in turn, they also wanted to create a park named after Moscow.
As a result of the vote, the first option was almost unanimously won. To this day, local residents, as well as the authorities, call this place "Pechatniki Park". Just because it is located in the same area, and even more convenient.
Park plans
The Moscow School of Urban Studies is engaged in draft designs. It is proposed to equip Pechatniki Park as a comfortable zone for Muscovites to relax on weekends and holidays. It is planned to put braziers here, plant more trees and flowers, do everything according to European standards. Some ideas are extremely original. So, for example, it is planned to equip real sand dunes on the territory.
There are still ideas to connect the idea of โโthis place with Tallinn, creating here a certain cultural platform between Estonia and Russia.
How to get to the park?
This recreation area is located a 15-minute walk from the Pechatniki metro station on the left bank of the Moscow River (address - 49 Guryanova Street). You can also get to the park by water bus. In the very center of the recreation area is a marina.
