Polycarbonate in construction appeared relatively recently and has already firmly taken a strong position, displacing glass, wood and film. Thanks to its plasticity, it allows you to create the most intricate architectural forms. Owners of a private courtyard appreciated the possibility of its use in the manufacture of porch, greenhouses, greenhouses, etc. This material is quite easy to assemble and has high strength, as well as good light
transmission . A polycarbonate porch is inexpensive and practical enough.
Necessary tools
When planning to build a polycarbonate porch, you should take care of finding the necessary tools for work. You will need: a drill, a screwdriver with nozzles, a grinder, a welding machine with a capacity of 220 V.
Necessary materials
- Square metal profile. If you need to build a fairly spacious porch made of polycarbonate, you should take a profile of a large section. The area of ββsuch a canopy will be large, which is good, because it must withstand a significant snow load in the winter season.
- Self-tapping screws with thermowells for polycarbonate fasteners. They should be selected depending on the thickness of the material.
- Tapes and end profiles are needed in order to hide the ends of the polycarbonate from the possible ingress of dust and insects.
- A primer and paint for outdoor metal work will be required to preserve the elegant appearance of the porch and prevent corrosion on the metal.
- Polycarbonate 6-8 mm thick.
Polycarbonate porch roof. Construction Assembly Steps
The polycarbonate porch should have a canopy, which will cover the platform, which serves as the foundation and entrance to the room.
- At the first stage, a frame is constructed to which sheets of the product will be attached. For this purpose, a galvanized metal profile will be most suitable.
- At the second stage, support stands are installed to ensure the stability of the structure. For each of them, you need to dig a hole about 1.5 m deep, and concrete support in them. This should be done for the entire foundation. The distance between the supports must not be left more than 2 meters. The foundation created in this way should dry out within two days.
- At the third stage, transverse supports are installed. To give the arch a form of a canopy, they must be bent. Cross supports are interconnected by spacers.
- At the fourth stage, polycarbonate is adjusted to the dimensions of the assembled frame. Here you can already see an almost finished construction.
- At the fifth stage, polycarbonate is bent by an arc. To do this, fasten the profile, make small cuts on it every 4 cm and only then bend it.
- At the last stage, the curved polycarbonate is fastened to the supports and frame. Mounting holes are made at a distance of 30 cm.
- And finally, all the edges of the structure are glued.
