The mating pose of the bears affects the effectiveness of sexual intercourse. The clubfoot’s choice is not that great, but there are still options, and scientists noted this phenomenon with surprise. And bears make love for pleasure, even neglecting gender identity in limited conditions. But mothers refuse sex until the children are released into independent life, and then they themselves are its initiators.
Traditional bear sex
Clubfoot puberty occurs at 3-3.5 years of age. Reproduction then occurs every 3-4 years. In nature, bears have few enemies, but still some animals are able to attack babies. Cases of cannibalism are quite common - older young relatives can destroy weak young cubs. Infrequent incidents of killing cubs by a male were noted for the possibility of mating with the mother in the absence of other females.
Bears are seasonally monogamous, although sometimes a clubfoot can mate with several females. Bears also happen to try to converge with more than one male. Often the same pairs are found for breeding periodically, once every several years.
The initiator of the meeting is usually a female that responds to the marks of the male. The bear leaves different signs about its existence and expressively characterizing it - urine, broken trees, claw marks, feces, parts of the hair after felting - all these markers report a physiological state.
Dipper comes along the marks to the rookery of the male. Often, not daring to immediately approach, he repeatedly turns and runs away. She can be overtaken by the male, or he will wait for her to appear again.
When the couple finally come together, they sniff each other, play, frolic - sometimes several days before intercourse. The fight is even aggressive - with tearing shreds of wool and skin. At the same time, the bear suffers more.
Non-polar zone animals spend more time together in such a period than their white relatives - often about two weeks, but the duration of the rut in one pair can increase up to a month.
Bears move all this time together, in front is a female. Sometimes it turns around, and both stand on their hind legs, opening their mouth, but not biting their teeth.
During the rut, the bears are very cautious and rarely catch people's eye. The mating season for different species, and even within the same, inhabiting different geographical areas, varies greatly in time of occurrence and duration.
At the end of the rut, the couple disperses, and the bear takes care of the future offspring.
How it happens in polar bears
Mating of polar bears occurs from early spring to early summer. Males go great distances to find a bear without children at this moment. About one female several applicants can roam.
After the pair is determined, it spends time together - plays and rests, staying nearby for 3-5 days for mating, and then diverges.
A bear in late autumn prepares a lair in the snow to hibernate for a long time, which often significantly delays pregnancy, as did implanted fertilized cells. Bearing can be up to 7-9 months. In the same den, later babies are born, but already covered with warm thick fur, two of them are more often.
Bear Kamasutra
The standard mating position of the bears is not much different from many other animals - the male jumps behind the female standing on four legs.
However, there is a lazy version of the position - the bear sits down or lies on her stomach.
Scientists have long traced the dependence of the fertility of bears, like most mammals, on favorable conditions, the availability of food in the range and the frequency of mating. However, the situation, as a factor of effectiveness, has attracted their attention recently.
In a small zoo in the regional center of the Rostov region - the city of Belaya Kalitva, Caucasian bears became famous for their frequent and stable prolific offspring - triplets. Even in the usual good conditions of captivity, the mass of free time and limited space, such an effectiveness was surprising.
Installed cameras recorded the relationship of the "lying" position and subsequent pregnancy, ending with the birth of three cubs. It was the mating of bears in this position that preceded a successful conception with the birth as a result of triplets.
In general, bears have sex for a long time and with pleasure. Mating can take about an hour or more. Bears belong to those mammals that do this not only for breeding. This mainly concerns males.
Bears were repeatedly seen behind oral caresses. More often this happens in conditions of limited partners in captivity - even same-sex relationships are formed here. Two brown males became famous in the Croatian Zoo - for six years of cohabitation, oral sex took place 28 times, and the initiator was always the bear that pleased another. Each time, sexual intercourse ended with the latter's orgasm.
Female bears have a clitoris, but zoologists have not yet been able to find out if they reach a peak of pleasure or just follow the call of the instinct of reproduction during periods of estrus.
