Like any self-respecting state structure, the prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation has its own heraldic symbols. Our state is changing, respectively, and its bodies are undergoing changes, and with them, symbols.
Coat of arms of the prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation
This is simply not in the world. Since October 4, 2008, after the decree of the President of Russia, a heraldic emblem has been functioning as a coat of arms.
The basis of the symbol of the prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation is the state symbol of Russia - the two-headed eagle. Unlike the coat of arms of the Russian Federation, on the sign it is made in gold color, and its wings are raised. It symbolizes statehood.
A triangular Varangian shield with a green field and a silver edging covers the chest of the eagle. The shield symbolizes the protection of law, justice and the legitimate interests of law-abiding citizens.
The prosecutors hint at the punitive functions of two swords crossed behind a shield. In graphic design, the shield and swords are similar to the emblems of Soviet law enforcement agencies, which serves as a demonstration of the preservation of the best traditions of history by prosecutors.
The figure depicted on the shield reports on the origins of the modern prosecutor's office. This is the golden “Pillar of Law” crowned by the imperial crown. In order to avoid different interpretations, an inscription is applied on the Pillar according to the rules of pre-revolutionary spelling: "ZAKON". The Pillar is symbolized by the inviolability, stability of laws as the basis of a just society.
The very symbolism of the Pillar of Law dates back to the Codex of Hammurabi, the famous king of ancient Babylon. He ordered the laws to be carved on a stone pillar, which has survived to the present day.
Pillar of law
The “Pillar of Law” was the main part of the emblem of the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Empire. For the first time the emblem with a pillar in the minted form appeared in 1801.
The emblem itself was significantly different from the current one. Although the base was still the same golden eagle, the Varangian shield had a rounded shape, there were no swords, and in the paws the eagle held a power and a rod - symbols of monarchical power.
Symbols differ in color. Imperial - gold and green, and modern - with the addition of silver.
Recall the usual meaning of these colors in heraldry :
- green - life, inevitable justice, rebirth;
- gold - power, success, prosperity;
- silver is honesty, wisdom.
However, the modern coat of arms of the prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation is allowed in one-color design, and without an eagle (only a shield with swords).
Not according to canon
In 1917, the history of the Ministry of Justice of Russia was interrupted, and after political changes in the USSR, the new Russia had the need for its own updated coat of arms.
In the period until 2008, several emblems of the prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation were created, the main topics of which were shield, swords and eagles. A number of these emblems are sometimes used by law enforcement agencies themselves, but only one is official. For the rest, outdated, the status is not defined.
Flag Procurators of the Russian Federation
The flag of the Russian prosecutor’s office is a dark blue banner. The so-called kryzh - a mini-flag (inclusion in the form of the Russian tricolor) is located on top of the flagpole. On the right side of the flag is the emblem of the prosecutor's office of the Russian Federation, or rather, its emblem, which is described above.
In conclusion, we add that the blue color - the color of the sky, symbolizes the highest justice.
