The hose for the compressor, or, as it is also called in another way, the βsleeveβ, is selected taking into account several parameters. Consider the main ones.
Working pressure
It is the most important, because if this parameter does not correspond to the load exerted on the hose, its gradual destruction will occur, the result of which is a break. Therefore, it is necessary to approach it with great responsibility. The pressure during operation of the lines to which the hose for the compressor is connected, in individual cases, can reach a value of 10 atmospheres, but usually it does not exceed 8 bar. Despite the fact that the pneumatic tool is able to work at the above pressure, a situation may arise when the regulator that controls the load is already set to maximum. In this case, for further work, it is necessary to increase the value, but this cannot be done. All pressure generated by the unit will fall on the compressor hose. That is why, when choosing, it is necessary to take into account the maximum possible load. Almost any compressor hose has a certain margin of safety (from 2.5: 1 to 4: 1), but do not forget that excessive load leads to rapid wear of the device.
Compressed air consumption
When purchasing a rubber hose for a compressor, consider its inner diameter, which directly affects the flow it takes. To choose this parameter correctly, you need to know the flow rate of the compressor unit. On most such devices, these data are printed directly on the case. If they are not there, look in the product passport. The largest diameter has a trunk hose. When selecting it, it is necessary to take into account the possible length of the entire existing trunk.
Working temperature
This characteristic allows the compressor hose to be in working condition for a given range of temperature fluctuations. Under heavy loads, the temperature rises and, as a result, the hose resistance to excessive pressure decreases , and as a result of exposure to the air installation at low temperatures, the walls of the connecting sleeve can be destroyed and cracked. Therefore, in order to avoid this situation, it is necessary to take into account the material from which the air hose for the compressor is made. PVC has a small operating temperature range.
Also, in addition to the above parameters, the compressor hose used to work with pneumatic tools should be lightweight, be quite flexible and durable. If the unit connected to it has a small capacity, up to 100 l / min, a polyamide or polyurethane tube would be the best option. In some cases, with large
production capacities, it is better to use a spiral hose. It has a greater resource, and you do not have to worry about its reliability.
Thus, now you know what basic parameters you need to consider when choosing a pneumatic hose.
