Fuchsia is a beautiful indoor flower that pleases its owners with a long and beautiful flowering. It belongs to evergreen shrub plants. Fuchsia has green leaves, but species with reddish leaves may occur. The flowers of this plant can have a different color, they are usually of several colors and shades.
Despite the fact that fuchsia is not too whimsical, care for it still needs a certain amount. It consists, first of all, in creating optimal conditions for her.
A temperature of between eighteen and twenty degrees is best suited for this plant. Although the flower can tolerate a short-term increase (up to twenty-six - twenty-eight degrees), and a decrease (up to ten degrees). But if the temperature is for a long time very high (more than twenty degrees) or low (less than ten degrees), then fuchsia will begin to drop leaves, as well as flowers, and may even die.
In the summer, it is desirable that fuchsia is exposed to fresh air. In August-September, the plant needs to be monitored more carefully, since temperature differences begin at this time. They are very poorly tolerated by fuchsia. Care at this time is to ensure that the plant is not exposed to strong temperature extremes. In the summer, the flower may suffer from insufficient space in the pot and overheating of the roots. In this case, care for fuchsia should be as follows:
- the flower should grow in a large ceramic pot;
- the plant should not be constantly in the sun.
Fuchsia loves the sun, but in very small quantities, it is better that these be morning or evening direct rays. The rest of the day is best kept in shaded places. The sun should not fall completely on the earthen pot. To do this, you can wrap it with white or beige paper. Only under these conditions fuchsia will feel good, care of it will become more pleasant and uncomplicated.
Water the flower as necessary, the earthen lump should not dry out, otherwise the plant will wither and die. If the plant blooms in the winter season, then it is watered every two to three days. In the case when fuchsia is in a state of rest, then it needs to be watered only once a week. And if it is in a room with a low temperature, then it needs to be watered no more than twice a month, but preferably one.
For the normal development of fuchsia, care plays an important role. So, it is necessary that the room and the plant itself are sprayed from time to time, that is, a certain air humidity for this plant must be maintained. So that there are no special problems with spraying (you may forget to spray or you need to go somewhere), you can use a container with pebbles (with any stones not very large) and pour a small amount of water into it. This container is best installed next to the plant, but you can not use it as a pallet. Thus, air humidity, which is necessary for fuchsia, will be maintained.
The plant should be transplanted annually. It is advisable to carry out this procedure in the spring (March-April). For transplanting, you can use garden soil or a ready-made soil mixture for flowers. You can make the mixture yourself. To do this, you need two parts of garden soil, humus - one part, sand - half of one part and the same amount of clay. Everything needs to be kneaded well. A plant is planted in this mixture. Drainage must be present, otherwise the plant may die from excess moisture.
Fuchsia, the care of which does not cause particular difficulties, is increasingly used for landscaping rooms and streets. It looks great in flower pots or in compositions on a flower bed.
